Dazco, I am a tenant, as is Debt_Free_chick above, and we along with many other tenants still think you should just accept the situation and get on with it.
    I am LOL

All the way through this thread I acknowledge that it is happening. I am not trying to stop it, I am not fighting it, it will happen.

I have spent today registering with rent type places and in the morning I have an appointment with my borough council homeless department. I would call that getting on with it.

Just out of interest, which "many other tenants" are you referring to?

you signed an agreement to pay the rent, they signed an agreement to provide a house for you for a specific Term which is in your tenancy agreement. If you do not pay the rent for the period you live there, you are a thief.
    I have had another thought:D

I have signed nothing to say that I would pay these people anything at all. How would they go to court, citing breach of contract, if I have no contract with them?

The original company, who I signed a contract with, still exists. The new company simply bought the properties ( and goodwill ) off them.

Can I ask again, please, who are the many other tenants (before you edited it)?

I would like to say thanks for all the PMs agreeing with my actions.

Maybe the regular posters would like to note that I have had three pms agreeing with me but basically do not want the flaming from the regular clique on here. Just food for thought.

  • Re: Section 48 Notice.

I'm having some difficulty following this thread BUT.....if I understand it correctly you now have a new landlord who has issued you with a Section 21 notice.

I believe a Section 21 is NOT valid unless a Section 48 has also been issued. Its law that the tenant is informed of who the new landlord is and the registered address for serving notices etc.
  • i'm a tenant.... usually this board is great fun for landlord bashing so i'm not sure why people would PM you being afraid of being flamed.

Most people on here sympathise with your situation but we're just advising you to channel your energies productively as the law is not on your side...

...although the latest development may buy you a couple extra months the end result will be the same.

    Good Luck.

you have been paying the previous owners rent for 3 years - THATs a legal contract - that contract has now been legally transferred (thru the sale process) to the new company. And yes, the new company need to issue a Section 48 - - and yes that will hold things up even further as far as gettin you out are concerned.

for goodness sakes, just accept the reality of your situation and stop clutching at straws. the sooner you move the sooner you can have peace of mind back.

So they have acted outside of the law and you are flaming me?????

You seem to be a wonderful landlady and a smashing girl to boot, but may I ask what your credentials are for proffering me lifestyle advice?

I have peace of mind, I accept the situation and will not spend a minute worrying about it.:D .

Please bear in mind that we are not all weak minded fools that crumble under a little pressure. I shall sleep soundly from now until the day I move.

No point worrying, it won't make it better;)
