Found a £20 note

:j cannot believe it, but down to my last £20 in the bank until pay day on Tues, so OH and me just went to get some food for ourselves and pets to tie us over. Driving home, thought we'd put £5 petrol in to cover work on Monday, OH put petrol in, while i went in to pay.

Go to get back in the car and a £20 note sitting on the floor, right next to the passenger door. Im an honest person and if id seen someone drop it, i wound of given it back to them, but we were the only car in the petrol station. Have no idea where it came from as i didn't see it when i got out of the car to go in and pay and was only 1 person in front of me in the que to pay for petrol and his car was on the other side of the petrol station.

Never found a £20 before, only ever a £5. Excited and shocked that i found it. OH says we should go buy £20 worth of lottery tickets :rotfl:

It really is a great feeling isn't it. I had a year when I found a £20,£10 and a £5 all at different times. Another year I was driving along the road and there was 4 £10 notes blowing along the outside lane in the road. I couldn't stop myself from parking the car and running after them. I also go Metal Detecting and it isn't unusual for me not to find hundreds of coins/finds. It really does give you a buzz - well it gives me a buzz;) :j

    It's your money now.....

With my luck £20 on t'lottery will be just that, and it'll be nothing but paper after the draw!

Well done on your find, now you need to decide what to do with it! :)

Not legally it isn't. It should be handed in at the local police station. Reported as found and wait for 3 months. Well that's what I had to do when a found £3.00 when I was 7. ;);)

You could hand it in at your nearest police station but you'll never see it again if you do. Unless the person who dropped it is within shouting distance it belong to whoever found it.

Yes I've lost notes before & I hope whoever found them spent them wisely. :D

    Two little stories.

1)We were arriving in London on a National Express coach, we had slowed down to a walking pace, and as I day-dreamed looking out of the window, I could see a £5 note on the pavement. The coach stopped (for whatever reason) and I sat transfixed. In no time at all, someone came along, spotted it, looked both ways, picked it up, pocketed, smiled and walked on.

    2) I was on holiday (Bournemouth) with my family and we were standing around at an open air concert one evening at dusk.My foot landed on something hard. I glanced down and saw it was a wallet. Without a word, I picked it up and pocketed it and said nothing. Soon after we left. I told my wife as we left the park and between us we opened it to see if it contained anything. There must have been a couple of hundred £'s in it, plus we noticed a teachers union card. We decided to go back to where we'd been standing. Three couples were still where we'd left them. I asked if either of them had lost anything. One of them discovered their wallet was missing and described what was in it, including the card. I handed it over and they said "thanks". I have to admit that we stood around a while longer. Five min later, they came over and gave me £5 which I declined, but they insisted I take it for the children who were very young. I did.

    Little story from me:

I was on a night out once and I found a wallet on the floor, being a bit drunk I looked around and pocketed the thing. Upon waking up in the morning I found this wallet and thought I had mugged someone! But then remembered that I had actually picked it up and no illegal activities led to this (by me).
Anyway I rifled through it and found a driving licence, it was a local address so I jumped in the car and drove to the guy's house and asked for him. Lo and behold he came to the door and I handed the wallet over.

He couldn't thank me enough and I went on my way safe in the knowledge karma would not be biting my !!!! that day!! :D

You could hand it in at your nearest police station but you'll never see it again if you do.

If not claimed within 6 weeks it becomes your property and can be collected from the station. What makes you think you would never see it again?
