The point is, because the goods were dispatched and this nonsense didn't arise till weeks later, I had no opportunity to return the goods. I had bought something at one price only to be told the price had doubled afterwards. How can that be right?

think you need to read the T&C;s aswell

    As regards to:
(which I thought was open to everyone)

What made you think that? Vouchers are specific per person, not everyone is entitled to use certain ones. Which website did you get it off? It wasnt personally addressed to you

    taken off their T&C's
2.3 Where you have redeemed a promotional code or any other offer ("a Code") against your order, acceptance of this order is subject to our verifying that the Code has been issued to you personally, that you comply with all the terms of the offer and qualify for the Code. In the event that the Code has not been issued to you for your personal use or you do not qualify for the offer, the price of the order will be adjusted notwithstanding any email or other confirmation that you receive.

Legally- your wasting your time. clear disclaimer.

It was a miss price. you win some you loose some. Most places are covered therefore if they tell you it was a miss price and no money is taken your havent a leg to stand on. So move on to next bargain.

I used a voucher (which I thought was open to everyone) to get £15 off an item recently. The voucher was accepted and the goods sent to me. I'd been using it for 3 weeks when they sent me an email saying I wasn't eligible for the voucher and they were charging me the money back.

When I queried this they then took a further £10 credit out of my account which had been agreed by phone earlier because of another transaction.

They seem to think they can just take money off you whenever they like. As far as I'm concerned, if they accept a voucher code and dispatch the goods, they have entered into a contract, no?

I'm thinking of challenging them, by legal means if necessary.

I too used a £15 code.On one order i got it (yippee) ,on the other I didnt-BUT I made the purchase knowing should I not get the code,I was still getting a bargain. in one case I found they had charged me the full amount.I considered I hadnt got the discount Because I wasnt entitled to it-and I was taking a gamble getting it off hotdeals.Whats the problem?
  • I thought I had got a bargain too but wasn't holding my breath or throwing my old knackered bed out.
The thing that's bugged me is the fact that they took my money straight away & then kept it for three weeks! I wonder how much they have made in interest on this little mistake???

the fact is they took the money and then took 3 weeks to return the money and 'realise' it was a mis-price.

the company is a sham and a law unto themselves, this behaviour is unreasonable, it does not take 3 weeks to return money and realise their website was showing a mis-price.

    cowboy company, stay away.

to all the people saying move on, get over it how about you all send me £77 (the price of the bed without vouchers) and i'll keep it in my high interest account for 3 weeks?

People people people, this nation has gone mad on internet shopping but the consumer clearly do not understand the law with regards to distance selling.

The law in basic format for Distance selling for order acceptance:
Online retailers can take the money at any stage of the transaction this means: at the point of order or when they dispatch.

Any retailer do not have to sell the consumer anything no matter what the reason is! With an online order you place the order but wait for the company to accept it, yes the money can be taken from your account without the order being accepted ( this is purely legal), all they have to do then is to accept and deliver the goods or cancel the order and refund.

The retailer in law has upto 30 days to refund from the time the order is cancelled.

People ordering on the internet should read all terms and conditions before placing the order and I also strongly advise consumers to get more knowledge on internet shopping or more correctly Distance selling regulations. Consumers may then understand why companies act in such a way.

I also have to say that Distance selling regulations and Trading Standards etc are there to protect the consumer (the customer)and the retailer however the law is not all rosey and sometimes can appear to be an !!!. This is why other companies (big named retailers) go above and beyond the law in favour of the customer. Although this has in my opinion had the adverse effect as now our culture expects the same from other smaller companies and think they are "out of order" or quote "a cowboy conmpany" when they just stick to the law.

    So in conclusion
The law is there for a reason but the consumer nowadays expects more. When you complain about something make sure you know the facts before or be nice to the person who is trying to help with your disatisfaction. You will find you will get alot further being calm and collected than shouting and being abusive. Remember all the retailer HAS to do is deliver the goods or cancel the order and refund.

get over it how about you all send me £77

You shouldnt have used a voucher that wasnt yours to use- as stated in there T&C's, its actually fraud to let you know and its investigated by Shop Directs fraud team.
