  • Hope you don't mind me joining either!
I've joined those survey sites that will let me join and I'm trying to save a reasonable amount there. Hoping to get vouchers and not have to spend too much this year.

we had to cancel Xmas last year as the good old DHSS didnt get my OH's disability money thru and so we lived off my last wage for two and a half months. Boy it got quite scary at times! So I think this year we deserve a Christmas however it needs to be a very frugal one but will still be good. Got Boots points, Tesco points and my craft abilities - what more could I need!

How about suggesting a hamper for each child rather than money? That way you could put things in the hamper that you know that they need - and take advantage of any offers that you see.

Eg - for a 21yr old boy - some smellies, if he lives on his own - perhaps the ingredients to make his favourite meal, a favourite cake, things that he wouldn't buy for himself - underwear, socks etc, perhaps a jumper?

Then you could link the stockings to the hamper - or leave clues to the hamper in the stocking - so - you put a corkscrew in the stocking and a bottle of wine in the hamper. Or batteries in the stocking and a torch in the hamper.

Hamper can be any size - so if you wanted to put luxury items in you could make it smaller. Hope this helps.:j

I'm in a bit of a quandry, Me and DH have four children between us and my kids birthdays are at Xmas too (my son is 21 this year). We usually give £100.00 each child for xmas and birthdays and also a stocking full of pressies, both ds and dd have partners so more pressies. I suggested to DH that perhaps we could reduce that to £50.00 each, he was horrified and said absolutley NOT. We are not in debt but our savings are dwindling, we participate in th GC and he is fine about that, but he won't budge on Xmas and birthday money, how can I make him see reason? All ideas welcome apart from divorcing him as I am quite fond of him!!!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
  • Hi,
I received this offer from Argos this morning -

    Code TOY1108PVE
    save 5 off over £30
    save 10 off over £50
    save 20 off over £100

    Offer ends 11th November

Spend must be on toys for home delivery

Not sure if it's exclusive to me or not

    HTH

Do these Argos codes still work paddingtondoo?

Just added this on another post if anyone fancies it:

I got an email from www.top-gifts.co.uk this morning saying that they're doing 25% discount off everything until midday on 16th November. I think I've got the email because I've ordered some photo calendars from them before, so not sure if it will work for everyone else, but I guess so?

The discount code is "EARLYBIRD" and you use it on the checkout pages and it takes 25% off your order. I was going to order some photo calendars anyway using my kids & family photos (as Xmas gifts for my Mum and Dad etc), so this discount code came at a good time !

Anyone else have any discount codes for Xmas gift websites?

    Ta!

  • brillant idea, my sister will love it.

Been on the web site and the single trees are £15, but I still think that value for money.

What a good idea. Might have a look at that - something my Dad would like I think.
