  • I'm in a bit of a quandry, Me and DH have four children between us and my kids birthdays are at Xmas too (my son is 21 this year). We usually give £100.00 each child for xmas and birthdays and also a stocking full of pressies, both ds and dd have partners so more pressies. I suggested to DH that perhaps we could reduce that to £50.00 each, he was horrified and said absolutley NOT. We are not in debt but our savings are dwindling, we participate in th GC and he is fine about that, but he won't budge on Xmas and birthday money, how can I make him see reason? All ideas welcome apart from divorcing him as I am quite fond of him!!!

I've found that my local B&M store is selling I-teddies at £17.99 at the minute. I've checked up the price at Argos and even with their offer of £10 off their's is still nearly £40. Bargain if you ask me, got one for my little boy.

Also if anyone's interested they were also selling High Street Musical dolls at £4.99 each. My friend says some of these are hard to find at the minute and she's had to order some from America at over £15 each.
  • I know shelling out for expensive gifts this Christmas probably isn't an option for a lot of people but I've just noticed that http://www.salonlines.co.uk are offering ghd hair straighteners at very low prices (compared to a number of websites I've checked) plus they are giving away tons of free gifts with your purchase, gifts you could either give with the straighteners or gifts you could give to someone else.
  • I have received these emails over the past few days, thought they might come in handy of you are buying clothes for christmas...

If any of you have a Home Bargins store near you they are selling Tooth Tunes that normal retail at about £8 for only £1.99!!!
Was so pleased when i spotted them the other day all my 4 kids had added these to their wish list but wasnt going to spend £32 on toothbrushes so only £8 for the 4 was a great deal.
    Hope this helps someone

well I wasn't gonna get anything else, but I just couldn't bear getting up on Christmas morning with nothing for my DS (22) to open, as we have both got HD for xmas and I made him a better computer costly £250 but it is now a triple core with 8gbs memory and a 1T hard drive, with a nvidia 9800 1gb graphics card. with vista and a base score of 5.9.

so I wasn't gonna get anything else, but I have been without a mobile now for afew months and have been stuck more than once without one looking for a pay phone, as there don't seem to be many around, so I got an email from top cash back saying sign up to vodafone and get £120 cashback, so I did, but I also got a Wii with the phone, they I got another email from choicesuk about a clearance sale so I had a look, and got another £60 quids worth of stuff for the Wii which would have cost £120 at game, so I did well there, anyway although I got a new phone LG Secret which is fab, I got all this too for him, so now I wont feel so guilty on christmas morning.

He is a gaming fan so a Wii wont go a miss, it's the only one he hasn't got, so I know he'll be pleased.

and vodafone are still giving £90 cashback so you could still grab a bargain and get a free pressie for someone,
    Merry Christmas everyone.

  • ok this is a great thread. I am going to collect all my tesco vouchers this year and exchange them for deal vouchers nearer the time. Also saving nectar vouchers, and boots points for christmas. Have brought my first Tesco Saving stamp and plan to buy 1 everytime I go in there. Also putting £5 a month away min to savings account to cover pressies. Even if I manage to get half of Xmas saving done by Dec, it will help out so much.
Now going to sort out a draw tonight to stash presents I see now for birthday and christmas.

    Thought I'd join too.

Today I cut up a stack of old greetings cards and found good bits to re-use. I need to totally re-organise all my craft things as I keep buying things I've already got. Then make a list of gifts I can make. Possibly grow some plants.
  • I'm new to this site and was very interested in reading through the last 11 pages. I thought I would contribute a website that has helped me out many times when making my Christmas displays.

    xmasprops co uk

These guys are extremely helpful and have made my displays become a reality.
