Woohoo! We spent our £40 on Amazon to order Christmas presents that were on sale. And last night I managed to get another £20 worth of Amazon vouchers again. So that covers a present we were looking to order for DS. Hooray!

  • Hi All,
This is my first post on MSE so not sure if I'm in the right place but will give it a go!
Toys R Us have got some deals on Thmoas Tank Engine at the mo that seems pretty good. I have spent ages on the internet trying to find a complete list of all of the "Motor Road & Rail" range (my 3 year old likes those sets the best) so I can go on some other websites and compare prices before buying from Toys R Us but such a list appears not to exist (or I am looking in the wrong place!).
My main dilemma is I have saved all year and got £400 of Park vouchers which can't be spent at Toys R Us but can be spent at Woolworths and Argos who also sell Thomas items but I'm finding it extremely difficult to make direct comparisons between the items!!! The saving at Toys R Us has got to be enough to justify using cash as opposed to the vouchers!
I think I've made sense, has anyone any suggestions please?!!!
    Debbie:confused:
  • Hi everyone, first time poster here at MSE.

Myself and the OH have decided this year to try and pick up most, if not all our gifts second hand. We've hit the classified papers hard since September, our best deal was getting a barely used Samsung laptop for my nephew for £130, quite a saving. I recommend a look in the Friday-Ad.

Looking forward to getting stuck in at MSE!

If anyone is considering buying a nintendo wii for christmas then i have found a great alternative. I bought a games console from Ebay called MiWi, OK the graphics arent as good but for £35 quid plus delivery its great value for money. It also comes with 31 games to get you started.

I would seriously suggest you dont:

Its cheap Chinese tat. if you bought this for the kids, I think they'd be pretty devastated.
  • I've just come back from Matalan Clearance in Newport and I was surprised at how much was there and how little of it was tat! Everything's at least half price and it's also BOGOF. I've bought my sister's present...

Sister: pair of black high-sheen trousers and black knit top: RRP is £36 but I paid £11. Will team this with a sparkly bag I bought from Accessorise for £6 in the Jan sales. Just hope that the sizes are right!

Most of the stuff is from last Summer but if you've anyone with birthdays in the Summer (I'll have 6 coming up between May and August) then it's worth buying now. I'm going back to buy all of DS's summer stuff as they had loads of boys t-shirts and shorts.

Oh and they also had quite a lot in the way of office wear.

I'll definitely be going back in the Summer to get Winter birthday/Christmas stuff.

  • Hi,
I know it's a bit late for this Christmas, but here's a tip for saving in the future.
Every time I get a £2 coin, I put it away for Christmas. Very simple. It's caught on amongst a few of my friends. You don't really miss £2 (obviously if you're hard up that day/week, you don't have to put away the £2). Anyway, I've saved over £500 this year using that method.
