Spent sunday going through my present box and have worked out I've got 8 people's presents already! Which includes gifts for the boyfs family!
Have also opened a smile bank account which gives you 12 bottles of wineWent into Debs and paid off my store card when they were giving the toblerone gift packs out for using your card, cited to sales staff that technically swiping it thru the till counted as a use! So got a gift pack for Dad
Got a couple of 99p books from The Works, the mini book type ones, one's a beauty tips thing, ones a joke one etc.
I'm going for a hamper/stocking gift for everyone this year
Also collecting all my freebies from online in the box. Including a world cup football, some tea bags, shower gels and a recipe book
Am also thinking about using old cotton jersey duvet cover, (looking a bit rough!) and making up cushion covers and putting some handmade designs onto it, maybe some transfer etcs.
Also manager to get a paint your own egg cup set from Woolworths for my sister for 99pshe used to collect them and u get two egg cups to paint, 12 little paint pots and two brushes! Should keep her amused.
Like many people I'm struggling on the bits I can get for blokes.......... any ideas everyone? Especially for men that are used to store bought/labelled goods?Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
Hi All
Just wondered if anyone else had started there christmas shopping fo this year yet??
I have and am happy to say i have about 60% of my shopping done and i jnust need to add small thigns to some other presents and then the only two i am keeping for nearer Xmas are my bf and my son.
Im hoping to get bf an iPod for his brithday but im ordering it direct from the apple website - they offer free inscription and it is about £40 cheaper as it is coming straight from the manufacturer. Its only £99 for the nano that he wants and my son will probably be easy to do but i can do it all in one shop tp toys r us basically and i know he'll be happy with what he gets - i wan tot leave that ill alst minute so i can go into swansea by myself thoguh - i dont know tha place and so the option if getting lost with a screaming 2 year old and a load of Xmas presents doesnt really appeal to me!
It should be ok though - plus if they are the only two that i need to concerntrate on i can save money gradually towards it. Ive already saved my tescos vouchers too - i started with the last lto i had which was only £3 but im in for about £7 this time round so i have £10 off already adn due another lot before Xmas still so we should have a pretty good Xmas. Even if i dotn use them on the food shop im sure i can still pick up a few cheap presents in store too - our monthly shop only comes to about £65 - £70 (there is only me, bf and son and now we've added a small dog too)
Ive even planned what to buy food wise nearer Xams and worked out how much it is going to cost! I also have a file with all my Xms info in from DVDs to watch with LO, gifts, ebay listings for xmas im watching, shopping list, gifts to get, gift closet inventory etc. I already have my gift closet too adn i have the tree adn decorations stored in it too so i just need to raid it and get everythign out come December.
Ive also been practicing my shortbread and cookie mixes ready for Xmas so i can give out some homemade biscuits to our older relatives too. Plus i have vouchers saved too fro argos and new look which can be gifts in themselves if need be.
anyone else started yet??
plus if your organised and started already like me why nto check out

I have all the presents, which are hidden all over the place. But this year I have made a list of what I've bought and where I've put them!
I can't quite bring myself to wrap until nearer the time, although we'll deliver our granddaughters' presents when we take birthday presents at the beginning of October.
OT.....what's the furthest ahead you've ever bought? My granddaughters are 2 and 3, and I have bought odd things for when they are 5 and 6. And if I'm being honest, a couple of games for even older children.0 -
Hi sammy_kaye,
I have merged your thread into the current Christmas thread as it makes it easier for other Old Style readers to find all the ideas on one thread. As always posts are listed in date order, so you'll need to read from the beginning to see all the replies.

No one in my immediate family likes Xmas pud but I had an idea of an alternative last night [why I should be thinking of Xmas fare in August who knows!!] I wondered if a stewed apple and mincemeat mix might work with a spiced crumble topping. What do you think? Has anyone got any ideas for possible improvement or alternatives? We may just invent an OS original recipe if we're lucky!!
