Grandpa - 79, into auctions, buying too much at the supermarket, good ale, jazz, old films and gaudy pieces of glass - (admittedly for his birthday) some free old films from a newspaper - the cost of a stamp and some DVD cases to put them in, a copy of the Darwin Awards (a book about funny and stupid ways people have removed themselves from the gene pool, improving the species), £6.99.0

that book sounds like something my dad would love, he has avery warped and odd sense of humour.
Will have a look on amazon later.

You must be saying I have a warped and odd sense of humour then . . . . it's been said before :rotfl:0 -
I love the Darwin awards, trouble is there is no one else in my family that shares the same warped sense of humour
I've just ordered a box load of stuff from the sale on Mail Order Express. DD has wanted the Blo Pens for ages so it was nice to find them in the sale.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

This time last year i had got most of my Christmas pressies bought and wrapped, this year i havent even thought about it! This Thread has made me realise that i need to start to think about ideas for what to get people this year.
I hate to give or receive vouchers but love to hunt unusual pressies that i think a person would enjoy and on a budget of £10 is quite a challenge!
Good luck to everybody in having a moneysaving Crimbo!Mum to 2 beautiful daughters born Oct 05 & Oct 08

Partner had a word with his daughters this weekend asking about Xmas. Explained that things would be different (cos bean will be with us end Nov / beginning of Dec) ....and if they thought we'd be running around sorting out pressies from a specific list then they'll have a shock.
I do already have quite a stash of smellies that can be wrapped up for them and worst case we'll probably give them a bit of cash.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move
Lily contracted Strep B Meningitis Dec 2006  Now seemingly a normal little monster.

Well I bought 2x Money Boxes as presents.. very MSE.. but they are really cute.. there woman with dangley feet.. shame my mum was with me when I spotted them as I would of given her one! They cost me £4.99 each.. but look way more expensive!
Also every time I go to sainsburys I buy a £1 savings stamp (it's mainly to stop me popping in on the way home etc!). Anyhoo £19 of a £25 card.. I will be giving it to my mum to help alittle for xmas!
I've budgeted a max £22.50 per person on my xmas pressies.. thing is I've been saving for Bonus Bonds since Feb and won't get them til Nov so real bargain hunting is out the window unless I save them for the Jan Sales! My Gift box is growing though! So I should be fine to keep in my budget!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 092
