Workwise it may look like I have no access to an oven/kitchen from mid Septmeber through to early mid december. Now to the depths of my toes i feel mid december is too late for making christams puds and cakes, but is early september a little bit too early. (this maybe dependant on actually fittng a kitchen this summer too). Have got to plan this Christmas with military precision or it is all going to go horribly wrong, and i hate shopping even by the internet, but may not have time to make all the presents that i usually make so this thread is very very useful in trying to get it all done MSE style and in time.

Queen Bess.. sure, it's a local wholesale shop called ESK in Eastbourne (Sussex). No chainstore I'm afraid. My mum might be going back.. she should pick you some up.. but they would need posting and though not heavy with the new Postage rules I think they would add to much £ to be worth it?

I wouldn't think September is too early, in fact the longer and better fed a christmas pud is the better it tastes.
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

  • I haven't told anyone except hubby that I start during the 6 weeks holidays gathering stuff for Xmas as everyone scolds me for being freaky, so this thread is brilliant!! I thought I was pretty organised this year but you guys are unbelievable.

I have all my paper, cards and sellotape etc from the January sales. I store all this in the loft.

The xmas cards we received last year are harvested for good pics, phrases etc so that I can make nice personalised cards for immediate family. I was horrified when one year I spent 14 quid on cards which said mum & dad, sister & husband etc. Not again! I'll do those in November I think.

I keep duplicate presents that my kids receive for birthdays in January & May for my children's friends and other relatives kids, being sure to carefully tape who sent it on the gift so that it isn't allocated to the same family. Last year I estimated this saved me 60 quid. Anything I wouldn't give as a gift for whatever reason gets ebayed and the money set aside for gifts for the person it came from.

This year is the 1st I am cooking dinner as we usually alternate parents homes, but I'll be rather pg again so we're staying at home.
Will probably need your help as to how to structure the meal, buying and making cakes etc as have no clue and don't want to ask my mum or mil, simply want them to marvel in my ahem...domestic goddess-ness!;)
