Hello! I thought I'd bump this and see how everyone is getting on!

I have all my Christmas alcohol bought and waiting in the cellar, I have saved a packet there by taking advantage of supermarket offers. Now, how to keep OH away from it for the next 47 days

Nearly all of my presents are bought, only two to go plus a few stocking fillers.

I am about 2/3rds done on my store-cupboard shopping, which has been added to since October, one or two bits every time I go shopping....there will be just the fresh stuff left by the end of the month. I have my piggies ready rolled in the freezer (thanks for the great idea! )

Everything is on budget and under control.....hurrah for an organised Christmas! :T

I bought all my Christmas wine when Lidl had an offer on last month.

Unfortunately my storage system is flawed. I drank it all!

  • I'm probably 'preaching to the converted' but I guess everyone knows that paperclips opened out to the 'S' shape make perfect hooks for hanging decorations on the Christmas tree?? You can even get green ones. I've seen special pre-packed hooks selling at eye-watering prices!!

I know most of you will have seen this thread, but for those who haven't - retro sweetie boxes - costing £25-£40  to buy - but can be easily put together on a budget.... and there's usually some treats "left over" for you to munch yourself

    Hi betterlife & everyone

I always start my Christmas planning in the summer holidays - even if it's just making lists & putting money away at the mo. I've been making my own cards for years, bet it's at least 4 years since I bought a card. Have previously made wrapping paper, too, & will again this year. Also made lots of edibles like mince pies, chocs/sweets, mini fruit cakes, etc in small packages so it's not too overfacing.

Got to really watch the pennies this year, so will be draggin out old craft books & Christmas mags from years ago - think I'll make some really retro pressies! We've got a £2 book shop in town with some really good titles in, so quite a few people are getting books this year as well!

Hope we can all share our Christmas tips well in advance so we'll be v. smug MSE'ers by Christmas!!

    Dare I say it...? :xmassign:

hi cheapskate, glad to have someone join in, i think i will make my xmas cards this year for the family , will probably buy for the kids from £1 shop as they normally have about 30 each so works out expensive if they make theres. i also think i will do the wrapping paper this year, last year i did brown paper and gingham ribbon in xmas colours was very effective. i also make some decs like paper chains, popcorn garlands for the tree, gingerbread men and trees for tree tied on with ribbon. paper snowflakes etc. i do like a traditional tree. we are also on a budget but i do like to go all out on our children at christmas, so everyone else will be handmade . i will make my own xmas logs, treats etc aswell. keep the ideas coming x.

    Hi everyone

Ive just bought my first Xmas pressie today with £20 M&S vouchers I acquired from Pigsback rewards. Am hoping to win some more pressies, points etc soon. In the meantime am looking forward to hearing all your suggestions to moneysave this Xmas as we are going to be particularly short of cash as Ive just been made redundant.
