I actually bought some marzipan in Tesco the other day as it was reduced and in date til Christmas at least so that's a start on the christmas cake!

I have bought nearly all my xmas presents in the January sales and i even have a xmas pudding left over from last year and i have xmas cards from Jan sales in 2007....but i never thought to start stocking up on things like marzipan and icing (i always have a problem getting them as they always sell out nearer xmas)....thanks furrypig for the idea.

I'm determined that this year everything possible will be done by 1st dec (including tree) so i can enjoy it and relax!

I have been saving money every month since January when I started my new job. This is for presents (five-soon to be six nieces and nephews and lots of other kids too) and any other Christmas spending, as this is the first Christmas I've lived away from home.

I have a spreadsheet already with lists of people, presents, cards etc needed for throughout the year, so I'm ok on that one. I also have bought a few things already. When moving in together BF and I discovered that we have enough wrapping paper/cards to last a couple of years, plus I make cards, so that will help for special ones.

I'm thinking of themed presents for most of the kids I need to buy for, so that will involve little presents all gearing towards a main interest (so maybe a book, a small toy and some stationary).

That's all I have done so far, so need to start thinking of other ideas.

:D:T Soo glad to know that I'm not the only person starting their christmas preparations in August. Can't sleep, so in the midst of writing shopping lists and trying to decide on Stir-up sunday.

Oh thank goodness for all you people here! I'm a massive Christmas fanatic, and I LOVE Christmas preparation! My poor DH wouldn't be surprised to come home and find me listening to Christmas music ANY time of year!

I'm making Christmas cards again this year. I used to be a consultant for a scrapbooking/stamping company when I lived in the US, so my collection of crafting supplies, rubber stamps, cardstock, and such is frighteningly huge, to say the least. I also make some of the packages (bags, small boxes) for some of our gifts to others.

I've got a huge supply of Christmas wrapping paper left over from last year, so I'll be using that this year. And last year during a huge sale at Waterstones, I bought a bunch of books, some of which were given as gifts for DS and grandchildren last year, and some of which will be used for gifts this year as well. I'll be knitting some gifts - which I need to get started on this week so I get done in plenty of time. So I've got some things started, but still have lots to do!

I'm definitely looking forward to reading the beginning of this thread, and continuing it on until Christmas this year! I love autumn and the run up to Christmas! Hooray!!!

    Morning everyone!

I just wanted to remind the newer people on the thread that thereare some fab threads over on the special occassions thread that might be useful depening on what you are interested in. I can highly recommend 'crafty at Christmas' with ideas to make some beautiful/fun gifts also 'ideas for card craft beginner' they have made christmas cards and have ideas that are very inspiring (and lots of pics!) also there is a 'scrapbooking' thread that Triggles might be interested in (or someone else).

So far I haven't been very creative but I plan to try and do some altered art projects on boxes and notebooks. I get very excited!!

Another site I really love if you're mad about Christmas is http://www.magicalholidayhome.com/ it's full of ideas and similar mad people preparing for Christmas in the summer!! I listen to their christmas music whilst reading through the threads!

    Happy Christmas everyone!

I have to admit when I started reading that site I ended up in a right pickle thinking I'd never be organised... it was only beginning of June! I think it's 'cos there's so many brilliant ideas there and I thought I wouldn't be able to do them all (which is true!) so will just take on a few!

132 days to go ...better get cracking!
