Sallys_Savings wrote:Mrs money penny...would you be good enough to put the wording on the board? I'm sure others would be interested to.
I did this years ago when my children were little (they loved it) and would love to give the children I care for the same this year for christmas.
Thankyou.
The bags she made were simple cotton ones about 3in by 5in in festive cotton print the top is just cut with zig zag scissors then a red ribbon tied round with a brown parcel tag with the wording printed on a label.
its best if you put the glitter porrige mix in a little plastic or cellophane bag inside so stop spillage.
(just folowed the link someones posted on the previous page that has the suggestion of using coloured sugar crystals instaed of glitter-safer to wildlife if eaten)
the wording to put on the tag is as follows:-
"On Christmas eve sprinkle this magic reindeer food on your path. The magic glitter sparkling in the moonlight and th smell of the oats will guide santa and his Reindeers to your house"SPC~12 ot 124

WOO HOO!
I've read this whole thread - only took my 3 days - lol
Anyway, I've never really started before November but due to house move, need to be organised as have very tight budget.
I've stolen lots of ideas including the toffee vodka and hm bath salts for impossible step mum, potting some bulbs for Dad in a nice big plant pot - not sure which bulbs yet, it'll be nice will be nice suprise for him when they grow.
Mum, step dad, brother and 2 sisters are getting little hampers. Already visted charity shop and poundland to get started, have the baskets, scrunchies (sponge for brother), some aromatherapy bubble bath, a lovely bauble for the tree for mum saying "to a special mum" - found that in the post office shop of all places. What a great keep sake. I hope in years to come, it'll be on the tree as something that I bought her for christmasand have made a list of other things to add to the hampers.
A "movie night hamper" for my friends who have 2 kids as it'll be a bit of a family thing. Will include a bottle of beer and a smirnoff ice for them as well as sweets, popcorn etc.
OH, jar of promises and working on what else...
Haven't made/bought everything yet, but have my spreadsheet sorted so I know what I now need.
After reading this fantastic thread, I feel like I'm really in control. I make all of my own cards so feel inspired now to get started early on these this year.
Thanks everyone for your great ideas.
PS - Must remember I'm on page 51, as great as it was, I don't want to start reading everything again! :rotfl:Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -
For those who are making foodie hampers, Marks & Spencer's Food Hall currently has 3 for 2 on "selected antipasti and sauces" - I picked up a jar of Sundried tomatoes, a jar of olives stuffed with feta and a jar of pasta sauce - but there were loads of different things and all look very pretty and have BBE dates of 20080

I've just made a start in the last couple of days, now have brown paper, tags, cards, half of the family cards and quite a few bargain stocking fillers for £1 or less for the kids stockings. Also bought a tape dispenser.
Need, cheap kids wrapping paper, cant believe they dont have it in Tesco yet!
I love the gift basket idea, just not sure what theme to do. We have said no presents for adults but I will make a gift basket for my Mum anyway.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
I popped into Sainsbury's this morning and the Christmas bits were out!!! I made the most of the fabby Amazon Sale and picked up a few gifts including the Sudoku board game that I was going to buy for my Mum anyway for 99p! I have also been picking up some stocking filler bits from Tesco's, mine had recorders and Doctor's sets and little bead craft sets for a £1 each, these were not sale or promotional items.
I am trying to get organised as I have to send parcels to both New Zealand and Australia and would like to try surface mail this year so it will take around 2 months to arrive .0 -
