Would it be worth somebody trying to get a better deal for MOT from the storage company pointing out how much publicity they would get with all media interest (we hope) I am sure they could reduce their fees for the goodwill. If so many people on here with very little money want to help I believe they could be persuaded too.
How good will they look in the book and the film!!

Sorry its not Hampshire but Hertfordshire.
  • Hi Mot,

I found your thread last weekend and have been following it since, I'm gutted for you that your appeal was rejected.

I just wanted to give what advice I can offer to your situation, I'm not sure if its been mentioned before...

In my experience landlords who advertise through estate agents tend not to want to touch Housing Benefit. You could go down the route of not disclosing that you'll be applying for HB but you'll need some money on strandby for the rent as I'm sure you know HB takes forever, and its likely to cause friction between you and your Ll when he finds out. Its worth ringing round the local estate agents though to see if they have any Ll's on their books willing to take HB.

I've found that most Landlords who are willing to take HB rent privately, try your local papers, corner shops etc to see if there are any ads. Also my local HA have a list of landlords that they know take HB, I don't know if yours would have something similar?

I hope thats of some help to you.

Perhaps the beautiful children would make the most heartrending appeal (they turn me to putty anyway) Who could resist 'Please help my Mum'
