Thanks for all your comments. You do have to make 2/6 chargeable calls to qualify. The free calls I made over the w/e are not listed in my account. For me, after April, will be ringing a local number during the evening and spend minimum 6p connection +1.5 per min, it will be just be a matter of letting the phone ring and when somebody answers hang up.
  • Have the changes actually come into effect yet?

I am on option 1 at the moment, but have heard nothing from BT - will my calls this weekend be free?

Inclusive calls are never listed/itemised by BT - though the bill when its produced will give the total number of inclusive calls made.

I have a 'unused' line here and plan to make 6 inclusive weekend calls (quarterly billing) before the bill is produced in a couple of weeks so will see if I am charged for 1571/Caller Display - I fully expect not to be.

    Regards

As far as I know yes, from the 1st Feb, I made several calls last w/e & have not been charged. I understand from the 1st April, you will have to make one chargeable call to get the unlimited w/e free calls. Check your bt account!!

Yes, the free weekend calls on BT Option 1 started last weekend.

I actually got a letter through the mail today 'officially' informing me of the changes and offering me the free evening calls as well or Option 3 for £5.95/month..

    Regards

  • I dont like rolling contract,s either, i take the view its better to have the freedom to ditch and switch. Also if your likely to be tempted to move to a new supplier in the next year, your be lumbered with a cancellation fee if you take the rolling contract.

Yes, but don't get too excited - you'll only be saving 4½p on each call (of less than an hour).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Will be interesting to know whether you will be charged!! I read it as inclusive calls are free so they are not chargeable calls, therefore you will be charged. I might be wrong, correct me if I am. Thanks

I can't - not on online billing yet! (we have had some problems with our daughter over using the phone so my OH insists on itemised billing until she is under control!)

I actually think 'rolling contract' is a very bad phrasse to describe it.

I would prefer something like ' 12 month contract which will be automatically renewed every year etc unless you inform us otherwise'
