    Hi

I am looking at buying the DD122FW version for a small 2 bed flat and wanted to know what are the costs of running these like.

    Chris

I have this model and the answer is it really does depend on how you use it. The machine itself has a power consumption of 360 to 620 watts.
I set it to between 60 and 70 rh and it comes on a few times a day.
It costs us approx £50 a year to run - keep in mind that its not used in the summer months.

Hi Lizzie, from the sounds of things a full house ventilation system may be your best bet. An uncle of mine got the Lofty Remcon system fitted in his 4 bedroom house and it cost just under 400 pounds I think. The best thing about it though is that you hardly notice it's there.

Its a house ventilation system and it's designed to rid whole houses from condensation and improve air flow and ventilation throughout the house.

Me and uncle totted up the costings and felt it was worth it, especially with the 5 year warrantly. It'll stop mould, mildew, condensation and the running costs in the long run are a lot more efficient.

Hi, just wondering, given the abilities of many on these forums to spot good value, if anyone has seen a decent spec dehumidifier currently for sale. I want to buy a desiccant(?) ie non-compressor type with a good removal rate eg 10 litres per day plus.

Any leads will be very welcome cheers David :)

The OP stated they want a desiccant type, EBAC only make compressor dehumidifiers.
  • Try the X-Dry desiccant dehumidifier. BreathingSpace (sorry it won't let me link because I'm new) seem to have a price match promise so you can get the best price poss! Hope that helps.

ps. I wish we lived in a world where all retailers had price promises, then I'd be a happy man!
  • Was looking for a dehumidifier and came across this old thread.

Seems Which? had done a testing on them for their Nov 2012 issue but I do not subscribe so have no idea of the results..

..However, on Ebac's website, they say 2 of their dehumidifiers, Powerpac 18 & the 2650e, came top in the Best Buy category; and that their 'The Ebac Amazon was rated in the top 10, gaining high marks for Ease of use and Energy efficiency' (bearing in mind the total number of dehumidifiers in the Which? test was only 9, thus any company's products could be claimed to be rated in the Top 10 = Sly)
  • When I was looking for dehumidifier reviews I came across a website with a top 5 list and I was able to find the best dehumidifier for my needs. I found it very helpful and explaining, highly recommended.
