They aren't really heating, its just a side effect of the dehumidifying process where the air is condensed on the coolant coils, its like a fridge so the compressor will give off some heat.

Ours also gives off warm air which is good as it helps warm the room up slightly :)

  • Hi, I have an Ebac1850e. It does take a lot of moisture out of the air and I can feel a difference in temperature in the vicinity of the machine.

I bought direct from ebacdirect with the free 5 year warranty.

I am only trying to help

We used to have an Ebac and it was really shocking just how much our electricity bill dropped after we stopped using it. It must have been burning electricity like it was going out of fashion. It did it's job fine but in hindsight was very expensive to run (ignore their claims of a few pence per week to run).

Hi, I am also interested in a dehumidifier for my house. Do I need one in each part of the house or will one on its own do? And do I need to keep doors open for it to benefit the whole house or does it work just as well with closed doors. I would like a silent one thats cheep to run.

At this time of year we have clothes drying indoors and the windows get condensation from everyone breathing. Maybe if we all held our breath instead.....:o

I have an Ebac, although it's currently not working because the fan has developed a fault and makes a great deal of noise. It sounds like the electric fan motor bearing has gone. I have checked the electric motor brushes and they are okay. I have been meaning to take another look at it to see if I can work out what is wrong with it, maybe a cable or something is hitting the fan blades. The last time it was very difficult to disassemble. I just hope it doesn't mean a new electric motor as they can be quite expensive.

It is rated at 240 Watts so a uses a fair amount of energy if left on 24/7. It did an excellent job of removing humidity, removing around 2 litres per day in the 3 litre collection cannister while in my Kitchen.

I have use a mk4 version of one of these (add the www as newbies cant post links:mad:) .ecoair.org/DD122FW.html in my 1 bed pad and finding it very useful as it has quite a few features such as a laundry setting, auto restart and a tube for continuous emptying. The other night it filled the 2 litre tank up in 5 hours (laundry setting), haven't bothered to put the heating on yet either as at 620watt its a lot cheaper that a 2.4 KW storage heater and combats any condensation at the same time. I also stick it on in the bathroom for 20min after a shower and it dries the walls and ceiling up like a dream. Still mucking about with it but so far very happy with it.

  • Hi

I am looking at buying the DD122FW version for a small 2 bed flat and wanted to know what are the costs of running these like.

  • I was looking at this one in Currys, although its there own brand so I can't find a good review on it

    logik-l8dhw10-dehumidifier

It has an heater and rated at 600w

I purchased this same one from currys earlier this month - through no real research, just good price plus has a timer which means you can leave it going and it will shut itself off....not all models have it.

Been good so far and i am amazed at how much water the thing pulls out of the air in an hour......
  • How about running costs?
