The bacteria is killed when you cook it anyway so if it is defrosted superquick by whatevers means and cooked thoroughly it isn't a problem.. just don't say that on a food prep. courseLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

I used the freeze the baby mice that my snake ate  sometimes I used to forget to defrost them and I would put them in the microwave, then they would explode and my Mum would hit the roof :rotfl:
I am a chuck the block in and shave the defrosted mince of bit by bit girl myself. I know you are not really meant to but we are all still hereAll comments and advice given is my own opinion and does not represent the views or advice of any debt advice organisation.

I have occasionally taken it out of freezer, put in hot water (or microwave) and browned off as frozen. However, now DH and I trying to mealplan we tend to take out night before and into fridge and then a wee time on worktop to finish defrosting.
Hope this helps.

Hi guys, really hoping you can help. Im new to all this cooking lark
but im trying to learn. Ive got some mincemeat in the freezer and i want to use it to make a lasagne tonight (fingers crossed it will turn out ok) how do i go about defrosting it, i dont have a microwave. Can i put in a bowl of water? thanks

is it a bag of frozen? cause you can fry this from frozen (altho it's not very nive imo) if it's normal mince u froze from fresh just set it out now it will be defrosted by tea, and yes if your pushed for time you can do it in a bowl of warm waterDEC GC £463.67/£450

Putting it in a bowl of cold water defrosts is safer and pretty much as fast... (some science reason as to why it works... water particles or something)!
I use the water if I only have 2/3 hours... I did this with beef shin at the weekend!
Otherwise I put in in the microwave/cupboard (I hate cats) on a plate for 6 - 8 hours!
If you take it out the night before then you should put it in the fridge!
Tip: put it on a plate rather then a bowl... I find a bowl can take longer!
Ps. Fresh Mince can be cooked from frozen but doesn't have as nice a consistancy. We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -

you can't really cook fresh mince you've frozen from frozen tho cause it would just be a big block, i don't really like the bags of frozen mince but i can see why people do it would be so easy to just cook it straight from the freezerDEC GC £463.67/£450
