I have been known to leave mine to defrost on the worksurface.. until the cats ate it when I went to collect from school.. if it isn't defrosted in time I put it in the microwave for a few minutes.. with the lid pierced.. I break it up with a fork as it defrosts and cook immediately.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

I dot his with Quorn mince as it says do not defrost!not quite so dangerous though.
I'm slightly concerned as to the hot water thing though - I've always been told that this make the bacteria start reproducing. At worst I was told if you want it quickly eith er microwave (quicker) or put in a bowl of 'room temp' water so that it defrosts but doesn't 'heat'.0 -
I do same as WMF - I am not a mince boiler! (you might have to be local to me or a galaxy listener to get that!) Yep that is me prodding of the defrosted bits!0

I always heard you couldn't defrost using heat too because of the bacteria thing. Confused now. :undecidedWork like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0

As long as all of the mince (and the bacteria!) end up cooked through, you should be OK. Neither are in very big bits. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

Yes but they may not be immediatly. Defrosting with hot water then leaving it for a couple hours isn't going to be good! :eek:0 -
I buy free flow mince and that says cook from frozen.
That is the main reason I buy it rather than in blocks because I only need a small amount to make a spag bog as I don't make cottage/shepherds pies.
