  • if you're saving for a tussauds pass you need around 2400 points all in the same name, so it's worth doing this. theme parks such as drayton manor allow you to use bogof vouchers etc. when you're paying with tesco points.

there are experts in tesco-ing on these boards. you can combine vouchers to get much more back and if you pay with money off coupons you don't actually spend cash. my tesco takes one coupon for something i haven't bought but i know other people hand over huge amounts in coupons.

the baby club gives coupons on total spend, and there's also one in the huggies baby pack you get a coupon for when you join. both can be used together, with the extra points on huggies wipes coupons.

i wouldn't do it every week (i've found the same wipes cheaper elsewhere) but it's worth doing as a one-off to bring your points total up to where you want it before they start sending out the next batch of points in a couple of weeks.

  • I tried to book a holiday with clubcard points. When I phoned the hotel I was quoted £55 per room BnB but as soon as I mentioned clubcard points, the rate went up to £96. Not such a bargain then.

But £96 is only £24 of clubcard vouchers, which sounds a lot better than £55 to me. And of course if you are using £24 of clubcard vouchers, it is affectively free - Tesco didn't have to give you those vouchers. Free compares quite well to £55 in my opinion.

For the people collecting baby products with no real use for them, have you thought about donating them to a local creche or similar?, I'm sure most cash strapped mums would be glad of some freebies.

(And for the single men amongst you, it might be a good ice-breaker!)
That's a very good idea that i had not thought of. My Mother helps out at a playgroup in a church so if she agrees about the idea, I'll give all the bottles of talc and stuff to her. Although the kids that go there are probably out of nappies now, some will have younger siblings, maybe they'll be able to get some donations and hopefully buy a few more toys for the playgroup in the process.

Amanda, The wipes and huggies were in a previous promotion through the baby club mailing (i've got six children according to the baby club mailings ha ha)

As for the bit about the ice-breaker. I reckon its a big paper bag with eye holes that I need, not an ice-breaker!!!

Oh, and on the subject of what people are saving their points up for... i'm aiming for the star prize, I'm after a car from motorpoint! An £8000 car will cost just £2000 in vouchers. Wow!

Just done shopping online. You can also get 100 points on Johnsons talc, bedtime one, which is only £2.00.

Don't you have to buy 2 from a list of products @~£2.00 each to qualify? or am I looking at the wrong item?

Hi fellow mse'rs I didn't know where else to post this. I am a bit naive when it comes to tescos' r&r policy . I read some posts on here previous. We have a new Tesco just opened up nearby and yesterday I bought some wine glasses reduced from £8 to £4. I took them to the till and was charged £4.50. I took them to customer service desk expecting the r&r but was duly handed 50p with no apology for the inconvenience. I mentioned the r&r policy to the girl and she said that as the glasses I purchased had a different bar code to the shelf one then I don't qualify for r&r. Now this didn't make sense to me because if they had the same barcode I wouldn't have been overcharged..any advice on this would be appreciated. shrewdal

Firstly r&r was replaced over a year ago with dtd {double the difference} so what you should have had was £1 refund the barcode stuff is all bollix from somebody who know's no better or worse still does know better and screwed you, next time your in I'd go back for your extra 50p. Having said that they may then come up with some other fanciful hurdle like "ah but now you've left the store" it does not count or "dtd only applies to items purchased on a Sunday between 16.05pm and midnight" or "dtd only applies if you are over 75 and accompanied by both parents at the time of purchase."
Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.

Together we can make a difference.
  • if you wanted the glasses at £4 and £4 is what you paid after they refunded you then that's okay isn't it?

my CS is not very customer friendly either though, they ought to at least apologise for the wrong item being on the shelf (if that was the case) - and quickly organise for them to be put in their correct place so other customers aren't caught out by the 'offer'.
