viakal worked on my sink...did you leave it long enough? Soak a piece of cotton wool in white vinegar, and wrap it round the taps for example, leave overnight.
You do have to not use the sink at least overnight to let anything work on it, ditto the toilet, you have to leave it for a couple of hours at least if you have stains as bad as you say they are. Nothing will work instantly and you may have to repeat it again anyway.
i usually use harpic limescale remover thingy, but i might as well try cola now...didn't even think of that, doh!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Citric acid in hot water down the loo worked better when I was in Brighton. Moved into a house that everything was covered in limescale, tried everything until someone suggested the citric acid.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

Annoyingly the lime scale stains in the loo are above the water level so everything I've applied simply runs down into the water which probably reduces its effectiveness. Will probably just have to keep applying but so far this technique hasn't worked.0

then get some cotton wool, soak it in white vinegar or coke, place it on the stains, alow it an overnight contact time.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

I've just remembered that I once made a paste of bicarb and lemon juice/vinegar and went to work with a toothbrush around all the areas in the bathroom (separate brush for the WC of course).I have a lot of problems with limescale.I must do it again soon and will report back.
I've just checked in Kim and Aggie's Cleaning Bible and they say:'you can gently buff away limescale deposits from porcelain sanitary ware with a pumice stone' -page 229.0 -

So plug it.
Attach something, a rolled-up rag, a rubber plunger, etc, to the end of a cord, or nylon rope, and wedge it in the base of the WC to stop the water and cleaning fluids from running away. Once they've done their work, remove the plug0 -
Empty the toilet bowl of water first - then let whatever you choose to use work overnight - as per this postThe best bet (if you haven't already done this) is to make sure you empty the toilet bowl of water before using a strong limescale remover, which you leave on for the max time. This works much better than if you use it with water still in the pan.
Best way to remove the water imo, is to pump as much down as possible using a toilet brush, and then use a sponge to soak the rest up (then throw the sponge away!)
It will come off , although you might need to do it more than once.0 -

Hi,have you tried pouring a bottle of cheap coke down it?leave it overnight,it usually helps.0

I seem to recall a pumice stone can be used to clean the porcelain bowl without scratching it. Worth a try.0
