Resurrecting an old thread here but the limescale in our toilet is driving me mad!
I know the Kilrock stuff shifts it and works a treat but I don't want to be pouring chemicals down there every week. I'll try the white vinegar this evening, do i need to empty the water out first or just pour in with the water?? Also i use those cheapy blue blocks (mainly in a bid to hide the limescale!!!!) in the cistern, is it safe to add the vinegar to this mix?
Also the cistern itself isfull of solid scale, I'm wondering if this isn't exactly helping my cause and I should focus on clearing this - can I safely pour kilrock or white vinegar or something in here to disolve the scale, and then flush until empty???0 -
Can Kilrock be used to try and clear hard limescale on shower screen, vinegar will not shift it.Jan Grocery challenge

Bumped this because I have a specific question. OH and I creep to the loo in the night for a wee (well, one each actually) and don't flush so as not to wake the other. So night after night the loo has wee standing in it, and it's just looking dark and horrible down there. I have tried expensive loo cleaners, vinegar, swooshing the water out and trying to just leave the cleaners on the bare porcelain, Astonish loo cleaning tablets, bleach etc etc but I suspect that prevention is better than cure. We aren't planning to wake each other up by flushing (which I think would solve the problem) but can anyone suggest anything I can put down the bowl when we go to bed which would stop the wee staining it as it sits there all night ?

My friend has been living a bachelor life in his flat for 3 years or so and he's moving and I said I would help him clean his flat. It's fairly grotty and his toilet I think is mainly bothered with limescale rather than other nasties. I hope
I have noticed a bottle of extra strength toilet cleaner next to it which appears not to have made a dent, but I'm not sure how hard he's tried.
Anyone got any How Clean Is Your House type fixes I can try? I've only got a day so I think I've only got enough time to try one or two ideas leaving them to soak.I love surprises!0 -

OK so it's not a kim and aggie tip but... in the 99p shop they have little Parozone Limescale fizzy tablet thingys, drop 2 in overnight, as new loo in the morning. They're usually quite expensive!Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

The only thing is it's above the water line as well as below so it has to coat the whole bowl.I love surprises!0 -
Buy a toilet cleaner with limescale remover. It worked to shift a brown toilet, in a flat I was staying in temporarily last year. I used entire bottles of bleach to no avail, till that worked. Also be prepared to don rubber gloves and do a bit of scrubbing. Enjoy!0

Someone will probably mention pouring in a 2 litre bottle of cheap cola, but I've found this doesn't shift the really serious stuff. I fear that you may have to call in the heavy artillery (elbow grease) and the chemical weapons (bleach, etc.).The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

Or viakal spray, it's good stuff that but you'll need the old elbow grease sadly.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o
