Ive heard there are many good restaraunts around, but I wont be getting there until late, so its going to be a case of dumping my bag, and going out for a few beers...is there takeaway places nearby to grab something at the end of the night?
  • I have just phoned the Hoxton and explained that I probably wont be able to make my booking as it was for my birthday and my OH had booked something else as a surprise and could I transfer it to my sister or anyone else, they said that couldnt be done, people will asked provide ID or the debit/credit card the room was booked on. I could give my sister my debit card etc, but it is the people that have been buying these rooms on ebay that could have problems, shame that people got the room and then made money by re-selling on ebay, I would have happily given mine away to someone on here for no cost but I couldnt give them my debit card !! LOL, mind you it hasnt got any money on it !!:rotfl:

The two times I've been to the Hoxton they have not asked me for the credit card I made the booking with. I just checked in, gave my name and they checked me off against their records:D

Me too, They have only asked for a credit card to swipe for any purchases. I expect they are supposed to check but i don't think they actually do. I am going tomorrow and will see if they even look at my card to check my name.

I checked in earlier today (very much enjoying my £1 room) and all I did was hand over the print-out of my confirmation email. I wasn't asked for ID or even a credit card, under the agreement that I would just pay for any extras on a 'pay as you go' basis. It might just be pot luck though - I suppose it depends on who is behind the counter when you check in.

Also, it's probably a common thing in hotels these days but I've never seen it before - to make the lights and electricity in the room work you need to slot your room card into a slot with an orange backlight just inside the door. Apologies if this is common in hotels but I thought it was worth saying to save people fumbling around trying switches like I was. :p

A lot of hotels do this now(had me baffled the first time). Are you trying anywhere local to eat?Im still looking around for where to eat in local distance. Is the curry place in brick lane/road? still cheap and good do you know?
Have a nice time.By the the way, if no one has been try the rainforest cafe near picadilly , its lovely to eat there or have a georgeous drink with the elephants!
