I backed a nag at the races that that came in at 20/1 once. Doubt this post is wide enough to write down the equivelent APR. on that one.
2nd best may well have been the best or the worst investment I've ever made. I cant remember now, I either paid the betting tax on it or i didn't.;)0 -
Correct me if I'm wrong but your best investment was a betting?
Well nice if it brings you allot of money, but that is not really my style of investing:D
Annyway thank you for sharing this!0 -
The best investment I ever made was having my son...
And guess what the worst was? :rotfl:"Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm" (Sir Winston Churchill)0 -

Haha, you can also see that as an investment, but I mean the investment where you have won or lost money due to some good research0

Do you realise Investing and Insuring are gambling ?
The first life insurance polices ever wrote were on ships captains often held for ransom by pirates. Befoe that gamblers bet on wether or not they'd be ever be seen again after leaving port. Those gamblers became the underwriters of the first policies.
Investors put up the funds to build the ships and fund the captains with enough money to buy export and import the goods. Gambling they'd not be outdone by pirates or the high seas.
Today an actuary and a bookmaker are very different things but not when you think about it.The best investment I ever made was having my son...

Or as my mum says....
"I only ever made two mistakes in my life, marrying your dad and having you! "
Difference is my mum means it thus I'm not posting a smiley.0 -

.
Gambling and investing are still two different things.
Ok basicly they are the same...
But with an investment you have allot more control over what is going on with your money.
If you are earning some money and you decide to quit you just quit..
with gambling you have to wait till the bet is finished.
You also can do allot more research with investing...
Annyway I know an investment is a risk, but a far smaller risk then gambling (in some cases)0 -
Best investment I ever made was getting married, even though my other half was so hard-up at the time that I had to pay for my engagement ring !! (Or doesn't emotional investment count in these threads??)0

Well if you see it as your best investment that you have made, it sure counts!
And may I ask what was your worst investment?0
