One I'm most proud of is Toledo Mining Corporation (TMC), tracked the SP, did my research, looked at the numbers and made an investment in late 06, sold mid 07 for 400% profit - yeah (they dont come along very often)
The one I'm most embarresed about is Langbar International. Agian tracked the SP, did my research, made an initial investment, then a second, could have got out with a 60% return but no, wanted the big cohunas, the full monty, the big banana, and...............
.................. lost it all  ...say luvee, 'luvee'.
Edit: Langbar is now the subject of a fraud investigation and civil proceedings are set to recommence anyday now at the crown court. For anyone interested to see how fraud can happen to a listed company (admittedly on AIM) and how investors (big houses) can be fleeced google 'langbar international'.Personal Responsibility - Sad but True

Hello to all you guys, first off all I wanted to thank you guys for those great contributions.
I believe we can learn allot of each other.
I also notice your investments are al on a longer base, it's a pitty because I can't speak along with that
I'm only busy for three weeks, but hey if it's profitable it's profitable:D
Maybe you guys also know of some short term investments like over a period of 1 or maybe 2 years?0 -
That has to be an enourmous amount.
If it has been 16 fold you can start to retire:D
I still have a long way to go but I'm also going to make the best of every investment I do in the future! And offcourse the one I'm in right now.
Derrek,
The property is located in an oil town, and the market value in part has been driven by the increase in the price of oil. Additionally, changes in law in the country regarding property ownership have contibuted. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -

Ooh mmh I see, annyway it's a great alternative for you, if there happens something to you.
Do you also have had some bad investing experiences?0 -
Best Investment..........sticking the maximum possible into AVC and FSAVC when I was earning good money and could afford it, during the late 80's early 90's...My SIPP currently is valued at about 600K (oopps checking....... make that 585K
) whilst my contributions were only about 115K nett
Worst Investment.... a 'mate' convinced myself (and a few others) to invest a chunk of our bonus's into a South American Fund back in 1986 or 1987............didn't see much of that back !!!
Best Investment I didn't make.......buying Cisco Systems  at it's IPO in 1990. I spent the money I could have used on a holiday instead..........eeejit !!!
Hang on............I forgot the Restaurant we bought in Florida in 1998....that went T#ts Up and we lost the lot...........guess that takes the top spot in the worst category
Yes indeed that's a hard loss, What happend to the restaurant?
Annyway your first investment is verry nice, and if you take al of your profits and take your losses down, you'll probably still have a positive number.
So that's great and keep on the good investments:D0 -

I got on the (late) tech stocks boat in 2000 and lost about 15k?In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
tech stocks were probably the best argument in favour of portfolio rabalancing and using a balanced portfolio. Property share funds were probably second to that and China and emerging markets could be next.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Lack of research on my part...got involved with the wrong people...got ripped off.
Actually the biggest 'loss' was being out of the UK Property Market from 1997 to 2002  Sold our mortgage free house for £485K in 1997, and the people who bought it from us subsequently sold it for £1.25 m in 2001
Still...it is no use wondering or agonising over the things you didn't do, far better to think and concentrate about what you can do.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

It's to bad that there are allot of people who accuatly just want to scam you, it's verry hard to find anny honnest people.
And you are right you don't have to think in the past if you have set a goal in your life and are willing to fight for it you'll probably reach it!0 -
There has to be allot of other people in here who have made great or bad investments?
Feel free to share...0
