Maybe I shall begin.
My best investment till now is accuatly the last one.
It's a Mannaged Forex account where I have invested 10.000$ in.
I have started this investment on 20 december 2007 and it already gave me some good returns:D
A Little bit over 20% on this moment.0 -
By far is an overseas property that was bought as a home but due to a change of circumstances has become an investment.
Since 2001 the value of the property has increased 16 fold (I sh*t you not). We will retire there eventually, but it is nice to have in the back pocket if things take a turn for the worse. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
Only a very recent investor, but the Russia fund I invested in in the second half of last year has currently grown about 24%. I've recently locked in some of those gains because of the volatility this fund is supposed to have, but with the rest of the world markets going to hell, this fund still seems to be very stable for the moment.
On the other hand, I know full well what the potential for disaster is in this particular ventureI am a Chartered Financial Planner

in past 18 months:
i invested 2000 in Grains ETC, now worth 2800.
i drip-fed 3000 in Merrill Lynch Gold, now worth 4000.
i invested 2200 in Emerging European Opportunities, now worth 3000
i drip-fed 4000 into JPM Emerging Markets, now worth 5700
:T
these are all pretty high-risk areas, though, so i should probably take some profit soon.0 -

It seems you know something about investing!
Or do you have someone who is searching out some good investments for you?0 -

That has to be an enourmous amount.
If it has been 16 fold you can start to retire:D
I still have a long way to go but I'm also going to make the best of every investment I do in the future! And offcourse the one I'm in right now.0 -
Of recent times my best/worst investments have been;
£1000 in Merrill Lynch Gold & General in August last year - now worth £1508
£1000 in Dixons shares in September last year - now worth £5140 -
Best Investment..........sticking the maximum possible into AVC and FSAVC when I was earning good money and could afford it, during the late 80's early 90's...My SIPP currently is valued at about 600K (oopps checking....... make that 585K ) whilst my contributions were only about 115K nett
Worst Investment.... a 'mate' convinced myself (and a few others) to invest a chunk of our bonus's into a South American Fund back in 1986 or 1987............didn't see much of that back !!!
Best Investment I didn't make.......buying Cisco Systems  at it's IPO in 1990. I spent the money I could have used on a holiday instead..........eeejit !!!
Hang on............I forgot the Restaurant we bought in Florida in 1998....that went T#ts Up and we lost the lot...........guess that takes the top spot in the worst category'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
Not my best investment but one that makes me happy is Jupiter Monthly Income. That launched at 100p in 2000 and then spent the next two years dropping to around the 50p mark. I bought when it was around 61p in 2002 on the principle that it had gone down way too much and looked value (i.e. I looked at the worst performers, not the best). It has since gone on to more than double which is good for a fund just under medium risk.
It wont touch the BRIC and Nat resources for performance in the short term but its not meant to.
I also did well out of Premier Pan European Property fund and SWIP Euro real estate which sky rocketed for a while and thanks to rebalancing and [strike]lucky[/strike] skillful planning I had moved the bulk of the profits out of there before they took their dive.
Worst one for a while was buying some shares on an tip in about 1995. I bought some oil shares which promptly ended up a quarter their value within a few years. Although I sold them late last year at a profit that equated to 14% a year average so did luckier than most when it comes to tips.
Worst current holding is the bit I left in Euro property.but that short term issues arent a bother.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
