It is a story about a guy that made soup out of stones - I am going to see if I find the original version and post it here (with DUE REFERENCES of course
)

Link to Stone Soup story - there are a few annoying comments at the beginning but don't let them distract you, it is a great folk story, told in many different ways!
Enjoy!
Caterina
PS. In case there is any doubt: this IS a money-saving topic, as you will save money by reading this story, learning and then telling it to your children and/or friend during a lovely home-based evening, while eating the £1.25 pizza, instead of going to the cinema and the restaurant for your entertainment and food and spend half your salary there!Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

I knew the story - has been on one of the kids channels. My little boyasked me to make stone soup. ::)
No good asking me for challenge - but should imagine soup would fit into budget with crusty bread?0 -
might just cook the stone tomorrow, just to see kids faces. i'm cruel really aren't i. ;D0

Going on in the theme of soups and moneysaving:
When my kids were little, one morning they spotted me putting old kitchen rags and sponges in a pan of boiling water and vinegar (gosh, I just HAD to say this hehehehehehehehehe!!!) to boil on the stove for a few minutes, to sterilise and deodorise (rather than throw away and use new ones).
They asked what I was doing and I told them I was making 'sponge soup' for dinner - you should have seen their horrified little faces!
Then I explained what I was doing and they were much relieved, but I have since heard them many times tell their friends about the sponge soup that mum makes!

Loved the Stone Soup story!
When I was a kid and asked Mum what was for tea, she would always reply: "Bread and Pullit" I had no idea what Pullit was ???
She was actually saying: "Bread and Pull IT!"
My friend's Mum would say: "Air Pie"~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
