Sounds absolutely yummy, not yuk at all! I would add a little chopped chili if people like spicy and a sprinkling of chopped fresh parsley. Might even try it tonight! Thank you!

    Fantastic thread, thanks everyone!
There's only me to feed, apart from the once a week meal I'm hoping to set up with my boyfriend where he'll eat with me, but I'd love to be able to cook for 6 and freeze it :-)

I can't offer any recipes at the moment, but I'll try to add some over the next few months.

    Oh actually, no... stir fry...
Don't use flavoured cheap noodles with a sachet..
Get the normal dried egg noodles, these are dirt cheap as well if you buy the supermarket's own brand, or get them in an asian shop.
For your flavouring... mix the following in a bowl:

    Soy Sauce
    Spoon of clear honey
Chopped fresh ginger (fresh ginger!! So cheap!!)
Optional: chillis, any other herbs or spices you want, I often add garlic, but the above three are the main three ingredients.

Marinade your meat / main veg in this - I use veggie mince, especially dried soy mince as it's really cheap, if you rehydrate it by boiling for 5 mins, then marinate it after that.
Fry everything as normal, then add the leftover marinade in like a sauce and fry a little longer.
It's so cheap, and so tasty, and no nasty chemicals that a lot of those cheap noodle sachets have in them, it's all natural. (I have chemical sensitivities so I have to be very careful).

Heh and my Mum's standard response to "what's for dinner?" was "What're you cooking?"

I do my own version of a stir fry as I don't really like the usual things in a stir fry.

I get whatever veg I fancy, - tonight's is potatoes, swede, celery, leek, peas, onion, carrot etc, peeled and diced or chopped. Cook them all together in one pan, as you would potatoes etc.
While they are cooking, I make up some sage and onion stuffing mix and fry it in a deep frying pan.
When the veg is soft, I strain it, then tip it into the frying pan with the stuffing. I cook it until it starts to crisp a bit, season it, then just before tipping out, I put some tomato ketchup in the pan, give it a good stir, then enjoy!!

That's the way I do it if I am having it with something - or just for supper on its own. If I want to add some meat to it, I dice some chicken, you could use raw or cooked, if raw, obviously fry till cooked, cut streaky bacon into strips, then add them to the stuffing to cook through before adding the veg.

    Makes a really tasty dish.

You can also add cheese to it for a change. Put in towards the end so that it melts but doesn't make it stick to the pan.
