appealing budgie flights ripoffs?

Has anyone successfully appealed any of these nonsense charges?, I just changed a passenger name on 2 flights for which I had to pay 3 times the original cost of the ticket. One flight cost 20.00 plus the increase in the total fare including taxes and charges and the other 40 Euros again plus the difference in fare from original booking to now and a 5.00 fee for paying by card although they accept no other form of payment.
The fee I can live with although it is a ripoff for a quick alteration on a computer but the difference in fare cost...why?

If you don't like their way of doing business, then just take the train instead.0

Use a decent airline?0 -

I can't I need to actually get there.
I have a feeling that may well actually be the response from my complaint to the company aswell. Bring on a spanking recession to try and bang everyones heads together into realizing being ripped of by banks and businesses should not be acceptable business ethics.
The second airline actually brought our flight forward by a day aswell losing us a day skiing as well as unrefundable apartment, lift pass and car hire costs....no recompense flowing this way of course!0 -
they arent a ripoff. they fully outline their charges and costs of changes to tickets BEFORE purchase. it helps to read the FAQ's. major airlines also charge for name change. First choice charged £30.
Also again most charge card fees, although they do vary. if they dont accept anything other than cards ud have to be charged, u cant complain, as at the time of booking they told u tha charge. id personally not have used said airline. as i like my 'no charge' electron card
even train companies do it. trainline charge for debit and credit but electron is free

Does that make them fair that they are oulined?, the airlines themselves are unable to justify the extra cost other than 'terms and conditions' they cannot give you any reasoning. if pushed further they rely on the same bull line as the banks use on charges ie 'sensitive information'. Maybe I'm just old skool in that when I pay for something I like to know what I've got:rolleyes:0 -
yes, they are a business and need to make money.
take ryanairs new luggage price hike, if its a problem then use their cheaper/free services if possible, which in fact benefits u, ie, no need to q for checkin, or find another airline.
if the ppl who's names u change are not immediate family, ask them to pay for it...0 -

Because otherwise someone would set up a company and buy all the cheapest seats (sometimes even 1p each way) immediately they come out, in random names, then sell them on to people at a profit, just paying the name-change fee only!0 -
Thanks Nikko that makes more sense althought hey could charge the flight difference without the admin. fee.0

A lot of tickets, like my BA/GB airways tickets, bought via an independant travel agent last summer, dont allow name changes at all, even 2 months notice.
Id have gladly paid an admin fee to have a name change.
We had to buy a complete new ticket and the original passenger was just a "no show"
As the flights were overbooked anyway, it was just "double profit" for BA.
As already mentioned, do your "due dilligence" before you buy. Flexibility costs money. If we opt for the cheapest, inflexible ticket, the just accept the charges to change any detail.
Personally I detest all this "claim back" culture (including bank charges)
We are becoming a nation of whingers, unwilling to accept responsibility for our own mistakes or change of mind0 -

I understand what you say to an extent but I feel we are becoming a nation of mugs with more money than sense. I feel the problem is that we now have a workforce of consultants, advisors, coaches, administrators etc aand all the other services who are so accustomed at receiving money for no tangeble product that it seems reasonable to spend sums of money for no product aswell.
I personally am a gas heating installer and the closest analagy to this scenario would be that I priced you 3000 to fit a system and a few weeks before you decided you wanted a radiator on a different wall. I agree to it but keep the original 3000 and charge another 4000 for the new job because I'm a bit busier (i did put it in the small print though)....still acceptable?0
