Don't forget if you are an EDF customer they [EDF ] must according to their Terms & Conditions inform you in writing of the price increase within 10 working days of implementing the change. Therefore as EDF are implementing the change this Friday (18th) the must inform you in writing by the 28th January otherwise they have broken their own rules. However as I have mentioned before if they have not informed you and you complain to EDF and nothing happens then there isn't much point in complaining to Energywatch as according to them "rules are meant to be broken" but not if you're a customer. Still it may be worth it.

Looks like I made the correct decision in switching from them to Scottish Hydro Price Fix 2008.

I'm due to switch on 29th January so I will tell EDF that I'm not accepting the new prices so hopefully my last 11 days will still be at the old prices.

I can't imagine why it wouldn't be affected although you never know. Since EDF took over London Energy et al, I found all the online tariffs going up. Last summer the gas tariff went up for those on Online v3. Did yours go up at that point?

Ours went up once, but for us was still the cheapest by a long distance, so didn't change as none had come close, then the last price change was one lowering our price. At the moment no one else is cheaper. I think it was March 05 we signed up and really have won, saving several hundred pounds each year.

Now they may put the price up a little, and if we were to move away might find they would increase theirs, or we could take the risk and pay the higher price fixed price expecting EDF to increase prices again, as even taking into account the EDF price increase at the advertised rate it would still be a lot cheaper than the cheapest price fix rate.

I remember EDF increasing costs before and twice our tariff wasn't included in the price increase.

I think it's a case of waiting to see what the others will do.

As far as I was aware only the standard tariff went down last summer. Online v3 certainly went up. Other than that yes there was only one other increase.

EDF Online v3.1 was £4 ( for my usage) cheaper than Scottish Hydro Price Fix 2008.

That was in London Energy days from what I remember. Since EDF took over it's been raised each time on Online v3.

Ah, we had a price decrease.

We'd be over £150 worse off switching to the cheapest price fix, which is Scottish Hydro, and we're not that heavy users. I think it's best we wait and see - it worked before. We'll just keep our eye on the prices every few days.

I've just done a price comparison of electric suppliers featured on the home page. I am with EDF and if I switched to BG I could save £156 a year

I think I might just do that...unless anyone knows of problems with British Gas electricity

I take it your electric only?

BG do usually come out cheapest for electricity only.

Be aware customer service is a nightmare and they are liable to make a mess of bills and refuse to reduce monthly payments when you are using less than the payments out come to.

Sometimes it's worth putting up with poor CS when the cost savings are so good.

I take it you was on a normal EDF tariff and not an earlier Online tariff?

I'm sure all suppliers will soon increase their prices.

i would hold fire on switching just yet you just know British gas will hike their prices too. What makes me angry is that they flamin hike prices at at time when you need more gas and electricity at this time of year as if we are not all struggling with the rise in everything else we need to live, totally sucks! Im with EDF for Gas and Electricity :(:(:(:(
:T This site is great! Thanks to Martin Lewis & everyone who participates and helps so many people! Without you all, where would we be ??:T
