What makes me angry is that they flamin hike prices at at time when you need more gas and electricity at this time of year as if we are not all struggling with the rise in everything else we need to live, totally sucks! Im with EDF for Gas and Electricity
:(:(:(
Yeah, we'll have to wait an see what happens and also see what our individual increases are if any for the tariffs we are on.
We're on EDF online V1. We've had such a good ride since March 2005 saving several hundred pound per year, I suppose it had to come to an end one day.
Check whether it's cheaper to switch to different suppliers for gas and electricity. Although at the moment it's dearer for us to switch away from EDF having separate suppliers for Gas & Electric would be cheaper than the same supplier if we moved (but both still dearer than we currently pay EDF).It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
I think that as Gas & Electricity is a necessity that it should be capped. Even if prices were capped surely the fat cats at the supplying companies could still offer deals and insentives and still make money.. Perhaps capping their fat cat salaries would be a step in the right direction too. Its bloody rediculous that even in 2008 the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. Understand that the world keeps spinning no matter what and that we live in a society of making money and thats how life is, but why oh why is the UK in such a state, it certianly isnt the country it used to be. If i was better off id emigrate in a heartbeat for sure.:T This site is great! Thanks to Martin Lewis & everyone who participates and helps so many people! Without you all, where would we be ??:T

Just had another thought, perhaps the government should set up a energy company of their own that basically only be allowed to join if on a low family income (that would have to be proved) and of course for the elderly with low income too, a company that could be non profit making and that less fortunate people would literally only pay cost price gas and electric.. almost like a charity run energy company. And perhaps be run by government worker volunteers that should actually start showing they are worthy of their fat cat salaries too:T This site is great! What annoys me most about this is that I phoned EDF last week or so to enquire when my current fixed tariff is ending, as it has had the word "2008" in it for the last 2 years or so. Was told 31st March. Returned home to find a letter from them saying that my fixed tariff actually ended on 31 December and that they had graciously put me on another fixed tariff until 31 March. So I phoned them up again to enquire why only 3 months to be told that it's the only fixed tariff they have at the moment and it ends end of March and they were only trying to help me, even though that fixed tariff is of course higher than my old one was. Fair enough for putting me on another fixed tariff, but why do they apparently only have ONE fixed tariff at the moment and you cannot sign up for another 2 years right now? The answer is simple. So they can increase the prices in the meantime, and when I change tariffs again on 1 April, it will be much more expensive. Well done, EDF Energy.Reclaimed thanks to this site:

Depends if you want your bank details going missing here and there
The kind of problems I see people suffering on this board used to go on back before the industry privatised.
The only difference now is that you can all switch very easily. This meant new processes were needed and put a lot more pressure on the industry.
Add in Ofgem's "always playing catch up" management policy and you get what we've got today.
The regulator is too limp wristed.
I've always been at a loss for words at the amount of money wasted within the utility I've worked for (big 6). They waste tons of money everyday that they could save and pass on to the consumer, but they only care about short term gain.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Hi I changed from bg to edf 3 months ago as bg left me with no gas or electric for a whole weekend knowing I am disabled and have baby!!! Edf actually seem to be cheaper and their cs are much better. But what I want to know is how much does this affect me as i am on prepayment meters. When they switched me over the guy said as i am disabled he would lower my rate even more and pressed a coupkle of buttons on the meter and changed the rate??? Does anyone know what I am talking about lol or have i been "had"?Keely0

I decided against the southern electric price fix 2008 as my house is currently for sale so hopefully we will be moving soon.
I'll wait to see what BG do, if their increases are similar I may be tempted to move to them to save £20 + £60 cashback. This will help to soften the increase for me.0 -
Just called EDF up about the price rises to see what my new rates would be and they told me that the online tarrifs are not increasing, it's only the standard tarrifs.0

I'm on online v3 and I'm sure the gas prices went up c. 6 months ago. If this is the case tin kitten then
The article also states how wholesale prices have soared since EDF cut their prices in June last year. These cuts were not made to the online tariffs.0 -

energyhelpline states thet the new EDF prices are now incorporated into their website. Just input my figures and the price of online v3 has stayed the same.
Can anybody else confirm?0
