Do not be talked into buying a scart cable for this DVD player! I was told that there was no scart cable in the box but what the assmonkeys didn't say was that there was a different sort of cable inside with the player. I got home and found a cable with three plugs at both ends, coloured red, white and yellow.
It links directly from the DVD to the TV directly and there is no need to get a SCART cable.
I feel I should ask them to refund my petrol too for having to return to the store to return this because of their idiot salesmen/crooked salesmen  If they ask you to buy a SCART cable, just open the box in front of them and ask them what the hell that cable is for  :rolleyes:0 -
On the other hand, the DVD player was free

I had to get a scart lead because my tv didn't have all the necessary holes for the wires (it is a bit prehistoric
!). Comet were offering a scart lead for £7.99 - rip off! I went to my local Poundland and got one there (for a £1

Just been and picked one up, there was a cardboard flyer sat on the dvd player on the checkout, in the small print it did say:
Comet reserves the right to ask for the dvd player back if you decide to cancel within 28 days
Or something along those lines0 -
I went into The Guildford Comet yesterday. I saw the flyers, but no offer for a free DVD.

I received a letter from BT today saying they were sorry that I am leaving them etc etc even though I had called Onetel and told them to cancel my order the very next day after getting the DVD player. When I called BT, they told me that it was not Onetel and another company called Telco which is trying to tranfer my line to them. I asked them immediately to cancel it and they have send a complaint to Ofcom.
Checked online abt Telco and saw that comet is affiliated with themRemind people that profit is the difference between revenue and expense. This makes you look smart0 -
Wooo Hooo I got my DVD player finally. I to had been in to a few stores and seen the flyers but had nothing about the DVD player. I asked the sales manager if the deal with onetel and DVD player was still on and he checked and yup it was still going today.
I took about 5 minutes for the duty manager to fill in the form on a computer and then i signed the form and was handed my DVD player with a smile. Will be calling in a few day to cancel. Now all i need to do is plug it in and unlock it per Chandlerscroft instructions,
Turn on the machine
open cd tray by remote or machine eject
press 2812 on the remote
screen will appear
change the region code to 9 by pressing enter
Now the machine is region free
I think even though there is not a flyer saying you get a DVD player you will need to ask as not sure if they would hand it over with out asking

I noticed my local Comet had changed the dvd player today to a Proline version ... and it didn't look as good as the Goodmans one.
It's been over a week now since i picked mine up and I've had nothing from Onetel in the post.0 -
http://www.telcoglobal.com/xhtml/aboutus/aboutus.asp
"Telco Global Ltd has been acquired by One.Tel, a Centrica business.
Centrica ... operates ... British Gas and One.Tel"
You'd think BT would be clued up on the telecoms business

Ditto
! Bl**dy annoying - I spoke to BT and they came out with some crap about not being able to cancel the request from One.Tel until the day before it was due to be changed over.
Anyway, spoke to the UK-based One.tel call centre (instead of the Indian call centre I kept ending up get through to on previous cancel requests) and got my account cancelled very promptly - BT also confirmed this
