I work at comet, this offer has been running for a couple of months now. So far as i am aware noone has had to return any dvd players to stores if they have cancelled their contract. The free weekend calls is quite good to use anyway, even more so when combined with 18866 in the week!0

Is this available in all comet stores?0

I have an NTL line and still signed up...got the free player.
got a letter this morning from comet/onetel saying that BT have rejected onetel to use the number..
should i ignore it or ring them and say i've made a mistake, thinking i had BT??0 -
Ignore my earlier question, just got one from my local comet yipeee!0

Went to COMET, registered and voila recieved a Goodmans DVD player for FREE. Worth 40 squid.
I dont think you can make up your details especially the BT number cos the system recognises it somehow. Or when they find out they ask for the DVD back. That is what the Assistant said at Comet, Leicester.
I had to approach them about the offer it was not advertised! Can you imagine if it was!! One word: CAOS
Enjoy i know i will!

However it's locked to region 2, and I can't find a hack on videohelp or dvdhacks to make it region free. So if anyone knows my 2 sons would be forever grateful, then once more we can have lion king on all day (it's a bit like watching the BBC) repeats.
I got one as well, what a fantastic freebie.
What does region 2 mean? (sorry I'm not a techie) and is it best to be all regions and if so how do I go about that?
Thanks0 -

Thanks
Region 2 means it will only play UK DVD's
However to make it region free
Turn on the machine
open cd tray by remote or machine eject
press 2812 on the remote
screen will appear
change the region code to 9 by pressing enter
Now the machine is region free0 -
Chandlerscroft..........Thank you SO much for that information:beer: that was a great help. When man sacrifices the Love of POWER for the Power of Love, there will be peace on earth.0

Thanks for this, great post. Picked one up at Sheffield's Kilner way Comet. They had a very small sign advertising it.
Did all the signing up pretty quickly, then left with my nice shiney dvd player under my arm.
When I called up to cancel today i realised that they'd got both my name and number wrong on the form, so you could make up a number if you particularly felel like it, but remember they have your bank details for the direct debit, so if you don't cancel it they might start taking hte money.
About to move house, so might pick up another one on hte new number (is that greedy?)
Just tried it out: plays orginal discs just fine, but has some problems with 'backups' that otehrwise work fine on my daewoo...ho hum, cant' complain when it's FREE!!!
Thank you!!!
