Woo Hoo! (am very pleased with myself). just turned an M&S Penny Bazaar (just don't ask ) tea towel into a kiddies apron for my DD - cut top corners off and hemmed (for armholes) and then added straps - or rather i will do, when my mum gets off HER sewing machine!
One impressed nan, one very proud of herself mummy and one little girl who said 'yeah, great, now can I go play in Grandads shed please?'

Yesterday I turned a shirt into a cushion cover, and a mobile phone case!. There are still two sleeves that I am not sure what I will make into at the moment.
The shirt had an embroidered back, so I used that as the feature on the front of the cushion, and then the centre back was the buttoned part. Easy and looks brilliant!
BF was very impressed at it. I got the shirt in the local charity shop for a £1.

I have been given a copy of April's Prima magazine. It has a pattern for a wrap dress and I wondered if anyone had made this dress.
It has been a long time since I did any sewing and wondered how easy it would be?

    Your welcome !
I have now made a pincushion out of the same shirt, and stuffed it with cut up bits of tights. My pincushion has seen better days. My mum made it for me in the 1980's!

I am now tackling a Gold cover, out of a gold strappy evening top, also bought for £1 in same said charity shop.
Will be venturing back into making clothes when I get back off my holidays in a couple of weeks. Probably make baby clothes for the grandchildren until I feel confident with my sewing again.
Janome have sent me a little screw that I had broken for my overlocker, and so I will be able to make things look more professional, I hope.:D

my 2 very basic A line elsatic waisted cotton skirts have been fantastic during the heatwave. They have kept me so cool and I compare them to my dh`s shorts ie casual. The cotton fabric is a little heavier and could be curtaining type. I have been looking for some more but its pretty tricky to get that sort of weight. I received one package via ebay, which was a bargain and is the right weight and a lovely bright design but I need some more. I have been surfing the net and came across some gorgeous quilting cotton from doughty. I find fabrics so hard to source these days

Hello, I have not been in this thread before but I thought I would take a look. Do you know where I could get a sewing machine from? I cannot afford to buy an expensive/brand new one, any ideas please? As I would like to in the near future make a dress for work etc. Thanks
