Wow Aussie, that's really lovely!:T :T I thought you said you weren't that good at sewing:naughty: I love the fabric, bet the little chap adores it;) If shipping wasn't so expensive I'd commission you to do one for DGS:cool:

Any ideas about where to get sweatshirting type fab for joggers? Woman in Leon's said it was really hard to come by. They had a sort of maroon/burgundy colour, but light for dh.

I emailed them today because i`d put in an order on the 4th April and before i always got my patterns within a week.
I told them that over here in the UK people were worried incase they were going bust and they would`nt order anything else.
They replied that my order was slighly delayed in the shipping dept and i`d get in within 4 - 5 days.
Will keep you all posted. ;)

I bombarded them with emails yesterday, and finally got a response to say that their records show that my order was complete, but if I email the details of the missing patterns, they will refund me. This is the 2nd time I have got this far though, and then not heard any more off them.

I will have to look elsewhere for my patterns I think, which is a shame!!

Let me know what happens with you!

Or you could look at the American independent pattern companies - www.thesewingplace.com has a good range - I don't know how comfortable you would be buying patterns online. I like the Loes Hinse/Textile Studio ones for comfortable separates which can be made up out of lots of different fabrics - however they should be drapy, like viscose or crepe, to make the patterns work. These are not high fashion patterns but they are, I think, eminently suitable for every day wear if you're not trying to be ultra fashionable.

Mrs F - thank you so much for that tip!! I am very impressed with Loes Hinse/Textile Studio, and this is just the style I like: no frills, classic clean lines. And all the trousers have some elastic in the waistband :-), nothing could be more comfortable. I have put an order together from this choice which will be my new basic wardrobe. Not cheap, but I guess this is an investment because these patterns can be used again and again. I can't wait to get started now! The fabric requirements are on the website, so I can already plan a trip to the fabric shop even before the patterns show up. Thanks again for mentioning!!

You're welcome, champys! I hope you like them when they arrive - most people think that the photos on the pattern fronts are totally misleading, they look awful in some cases and not at all like the finished articles. If you do a pattern search on the pattern review site I mentioned too, you can see real people wearing the results, together with any alterations they made to the patterns - they are very versatile and I have used mine over and over again, justifying the rather expensive price.

    Good luck!

Hi Mrs G Do you live far from Leon's. Do you know the area? What I missed was somewhere for MIL to take me for a coffee!
I live a 10 minute walk from Leons. If you take a left as you come out of Leons, heading towards Chorlton centre (it will take just a couple of minutes in the car), you'll hit the shops. There's several cafes/bars dotted around there :D

Hi, a question for all you seasoned dressmakers....Would the poly/cotton sheeting be any good for lightweight summer skirts/dresses. Or is it just too limp and flimsy?

I ask because I've not attempted to make any clothes yet (still practicing sewing in a straight line:rotfl: )....But I'd like to try a basic A-line skirt, and wouldn't want to waste money on better fabric, when I may make a complete hash of it:rolleyes:

Looks like we'll have to have an OS meet in the area if so many are around! I went somewhere for coffee while ds was having his music lesson in Chorlton, btuit wasn't very nice. His teacher comes to us more often than not these days. he lives in a flat and I suspect the noise might not be welcome. Also his partner has to vanish to bedroom. I pay his petrol money though, as I'd have to pay that anyway.
