Does anyone know of anywhere better than Ebay for selling fabric and patterns?
Have a look at http://www.etsy.com/index.php - mainly a site for selling home made goods but I have seen fabric for sale on there as well.True wealth lies in contentment - not cash. Dollydaydream 20060 -
Thought i`d just share this with everyone. I asked on my local freecycle at the weekend for very old patterns - i love them, and know the sizes are much smaller , anyway a very nice lady has given me a box of about 30 old patterns. The oldest is 1952 ! I`ve just spent a happy hour looking through them, the ball gowns from the 50s are lovely.0

Has anyone ever used this company for patterns?
I placed an order with them in JANUARY! I received the first part of the order, but two patterns were in back order.
I have still not received the two patterns, and they are not responding to any emails I send them.
Are they usually a good supplier???? Just wondered what experience anyone else has had with them, or am I just unlucky?
I get so mad when I get ignored by companies. It only takes a second to email! So much for American customer service!!!!

oooh nuttywoman, lucky you! They are sooo popular at the moment (Butterick and Vogue have reissued some of their vintage patterns). Hope you get a lot of pleasure out of them.
caleo, I have ordered a couple of times from sewingpatterns.com and not had a problem with it. January seems a long time ago, I wonder what's going on. Do they have a page where you can track your order? I don't know what else to suggest if they have not answered your emailssorry.

Edited to add: I have just had a look at www.patternreview.com's website reviews and it would appear that although most people are satisfied with sewingpatterns.com's service, those who had tried to email chasing patterns had had the same luck as you, although the patterns eventually appeared. Hopefully there's just a delay in getting hold of your patterns their end, and they will send them to you as soon as possible. Good luck. Mrs F x0 -
I have just ordered another lot of fabrics from abakhan. The first lot was absolutely wonderful and delivery very fast. I have also discovered fabricland and have placed my first order with them. It is companies like these that making sewing so worthwhile
Incidentally I used a kwik sew pattern today, the first time ever and it was fantastic to use. They use better paper, clearer lines and have removed all the clutter. I have the skirt hanging on my dressform already and am waiting for more material from abakhan to make a matching jacket. I thought I had enough but didn`t think to allow for the big pattern repeat :rolleyes2
I got my first ever book by Sandra Betzina yesterday and it is amazingly good. So clear and full off illustrations and tips
I can`t tell you enough how much I am hooked on this sewing re-birth. My wardrobe is going to be completely changed by the time I have finished and the bonus is that I don`t feel like nibbling when I am working on a project :j0 -
caleo, I also have a problem with sewingpatterns.com and all my e mails are bouncing back to me. I know that I omitted to put UK in my address and the default is US. I hope they cotton on0

Fingers crossed for you!! I have to say, the others came pretty quickly, I am just so annoyed that they haven't bothered to communicate at all about the missing patterns!!0 -
I have just ordered another 4 patterns and put a note in the box on the order form. I hope they take note about my mistake on the last order. They are an excellent company and I can`t understand that they haven`t sorted the e mail problem out but then maybe it is only uk e mails and no-one has told them. I told them in the box0

Hi
They sent part of my order, so I know they have the right address. They have also answered one email, and asked which patterns I still needed, so some of the emails must be getting through.
Thanks for mentoning the email probs in your order. Hopefully it is just a problems with their email server!!!
They have a great selection, so i would hate to think this is a common problem!
