And then there's the people who think it's their duty to give me my first sip of alcohol
As a non-smoker I don't get grilled for never having had a cigarette, so what is it about drink?
....I don't understand the people who would offer drink to a non-drinker when they can have it themselves.0 -
i dont drink either, though i have in the past.
shin splints for those who were asking in my experience were a really really bad pain up the fronts of my legs, generally stopping about 1/3 of the way below the knee. carrying on walking made them worse and it got to the point were i was taking pain killers just so i could walk about the house for a couple of days. gp said it was shin splints and would get better and not to stop walking but to walk slower.
well i stopped walking (the manic energy disapeared) and they did get better but i went back to sitting on my butt doing nothing all day. now every time i turn the speed up on the treadmill or get the skipping rope out they get sore again so i ease of, turn the speed back down0 -
I'm with you Ajax 100%

:j Well done Gpuk :j I hope you reach that 1 st target next week :j and hugs to those of you who have gained but Well done too for not giving in :j You will all succeed :j ...
...Good news about getting back to work BB :j that should help you considerably with the maintaining. Thanks for the kind words :T I must admit that up to Xmas I just showed my total weight loss in my sig (which didn't go so unnoticed as I thought;) ) but afterwards when there was my first gain since starting all this, despite it being perfectly reasonable considering the time of year, it freaked me out, and then everything else happened etc etc. It was partly due to that heart wrenching post from efrieze that made realise that made me see a bit of reason so...
...:j Well done efrieze I'm so pleased for you :j You are an inspiration:T...
...I used to drink quite a lot at various times over the years, but gave it up entirely when I started here last year. I had some again at Xmas which had been left untouched all through last year, and then for a couple of days back in January, but it made me feel so awful even though it was nowhere near what I could have previously glugged. So I decided to pack it in altogether and dumped what was left. I found last year that I prefer to have sparkling mineral water with my meals if we go out, because even in my worst times I've never been able to agree that wine complements food, it's too much conflict of flavours; I suppose it's all put about by vintners. Anyway, the benefits of having better health and a heck of a lot more disposable money make it all the more :j :j So now I'm with you non drinkers, I've proved to myself that I don't need the stuff and still have a good time...
...I've also sorted some things out to put on ebay, even if it's only a matter of a couple of £s it's better that just laying about here, but I've never done this before so, BB and missy I may be PMing you for advice over the next week or so if you don't mind. BTW missy are you a Dee-da?
...
...Off now to see if my Quidco stuff has tracked yet, I know a lot of you here know all about it and more, but I've only just realised what I could have saved/made last yearI could kick myself, but now I'm well and truly into the swing of things...

Hi guys, so many great posts since I was last on, not sure I can reply to them all but thanks, I love coming here!
My first thought re the leg pain (sorry can't remember who it was) was shin splints too, although having done a bit of Googling, I wouldn't be so quick to make that diagnosis now. Definitely go to your doctor though as left untreated it can get v nasty. Explain your exercise routine fully, how it's changed/increased and, I'm afraid, be prepared for the possibility that you may need to rest it for a few weeks. If this is the case, definitely follow the advice as I know several people with them and once aggravated they are excruciating. I know it'll be really frustrating if you hear the word 'rest' but I promise it's the far better option (this from a woman who ran a marathon on 8 weeks training from nothing and permanently damaged her hips).
Oh yae, people are up for the meet!!:j And a spa too! I was thinking that the cost might stop some people being so keen, that was all? Plenty of time to chat KPC, inbetween treatmentsAugust Bank Hol could be a winner, what do you think? Hmm, so if it didn't quite happen last time, let's make sure it does this time! If you're interested, PM me - are people happy to give their email addresses? - and then we can go from there maybe? Give me chance to clear my inbox first!:D
Right, before I forget completely (it's a bit like that at the mo), I'm reentering the challenge so Grannynise, my total loss so far stand at 10 pounds. I'll weigh in next week, hopefully with a loss.
I bit the bullet and joined the gym today - parting with my hard earned cash (from the days when I was earning, meant for a round-the-world trip:rolleyes:) wasn't so hard after a fantastic yoga class this morningWe're going back tonight (just sauna, jacuzzi and steam for me) as it's free for OH on the last Wednesday of each month :T I managed to get it for £50/mth with extras so hope you're proud of me, Ajax. There's also a loyalty card and for every 10 times I go I get 2 free passes for OH; so he can probably come every week! I popped in after work today and it is just so handy; I'm really chuffed!
BB, fantastic news about heading back to work, I just know how good that will have felt! And fingers crossed for Mr BB, I really hope he gets it.
Had more to say but forgottenEfrieze, well done on losing the 4lb, brill, and to GN for losing some of the gain - BB was spot on with her words there. Well done to everyone, even if you haven't seen the results you'd like this week, we're all on the right path.
I won't be on from 6pm tonight til 6pm tomorrow as it's E-Day, encouraging as many people as possible nationwide to turn off appliances etc. They are going to monitor the Nathionall Grid and then report how much energy was saved tomorrow. So we're going to not use electricity at all for the next 24 hours...candles all round!
See you all tomorrow evening, and thanks in advance to GN for the chart xx
Oh, and I'm not drinking - really not missing it either. Don't think it'll be forever but am enjoying it. I love having lime soda (with real limes nor cordial, yum!).
Well done Pet on the MS; I've only scratched the surface on here but I've saved so much money, it's ace and couldn't be more welcome in my current situation. I Ebayed my first item the other week too; thanks Missy!
EDIT: okay, 10 spaces in my Inbox now so first 10 get an extra prize! Will clear some more tomorrow.

Hi all - there have been loads of posts since I last came on, not sure I can keep up!!
I feel really embarrased, I have put on weight again this week. Another 3lb, which makes my total weight loss a plus :rotfl:/:eek: how embarrassing!!
I wasn't going to say anything but I decided that was a coward's way out. I put five empty wine bottles in the recycling on Monday, thats about ten days since the last time  that gave me a wake up call!! I have been quite down recently but really it's all in my head and I need to pick myself up and start again tomorrow. I keep forgetting that Ive got plenty to be grateful for. I feel bad as well as I am dragging down our total weight loss!! So..[strike]maybe[/strike] a weight loss in March[strike]?[/strike] :jI have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

...
What's a Dee-da? Is it like a La-Dee-Da? I'm not one of those :rotfl: I'm more than happy to help with ebay things if I can, so Pet or anyone please feel free to PM me if you have newbie questions. Or if you want help from the proper experts, there is always the ebay forum on MSE.
Bails, good news about the gym, hope you really enjoy it there! (But not so much that you don't have time to post here!)
Taadaa, so you had a bit of a false start, it doesn't matter! Like you say, start over again (and :rotfl: at the freecycle/ebay comment in your sig!)0 -

Don't be embarassed Taadaa, we all now how hard it can be to get into the weightloss mode. Obviously though, the wine is a huge contributing factor and I talk from past experience- only 5 bottles in 10 days, ha! I was doing that in 2 days
sometimes more at the weekend
I really could hold it well that's why I could drink it all, I had to keep increasing it to get the effect. I suffer greatly with depression etc and believe me drink only exacerbates it, honestly
and it piles the weight on big time! As I said in my previous post, I stopped it all of last year without any problem, not only did it help my weight loss I also felt better mentally. Please do give it a go it will help you immensely. Don't worry about it bringing the groups total loss down, it doesn't affect us, it's you that matters :grouphug:Feel free to PM if you want
