  • What I could do with is just meeting my targets, going back to being 18 and retraining all over again for a new career.

well, as that isn't going to happen you need a new plan.

and as you aren't actually trained for anything, how can you 'retrain'??

Well, you haven't spent your student loan yet so what stops you?

You just don't know what it does to your self worth when you aren't even able to have a full time job.

Exactly the same as being made redundant and not being able to get a job, being put on the scrapheap because you are in your 50's or just not being able to get a decent job or salary.

You are one of many SP.

You can boost your self worth without the employment side you know. You have to set goals in your life (not just your work) which will make you achieve things and feel better.

Whether it's helping people (voluntary work) or acheiving a personal goal (e.g. getting fit, studying something) it will help negate those feelings alone.

If you believe you are depressed you should join a group or get counselling as you just don't seem to be able to motivate yourself.

How do you know we dont what it is like???? Many of us struggle to keep a job or lose employment. Some of us are unable to work because of disability or caring responsibilities...and yes, it gets you down but you dont see many of us assume we are the only ones in that predicament.

You on the other hand ARE able to get a FT job - you just dont have the get up and go.

That's true some people aren't upto a full time job. I know it is partly I won't take a chance and leave this job which I do like and I am in a good pension scheme and all that and all that sort of thing holds me back from taking a risk and leaving it.

maybe they could help you to feel/be more positive which in turn might help with the jobs?

sounds like NLP could really help you, phil.

our facilities manager doesn't have a masters

and we're putting him through COSHH training

Okay, but I think it is different when you already do the job. They have facilities managers in libraries and I would love that type of job. Okay, its probably only 25 or 30k a year but I would be happy with that sort of job.

What good is the pension scheme if it is just a 6 month temp contract?

i can't believe you said 'only'!!!

and you're no-where near that yet.

who said he already does the job? (do you always twist things to fit your warped way of thinking?)

he convinced us that with training he'd be up to the job, so we're taking the chance with him. he's never done anything like it before.
