Yeah I found it just after posting that:p

    Thanks anyway ;)

Apologies for being dumb, but can someone confirm that the sort code for YBS e-ISA is 60-92-04?

    http://www.ybs.co.uk/savings/online/eisa/index.jsp

I don't think I have an 8 digit bank account number for my YBS e-ISA, only a 10digit account number.

Do I just fill in 60-92-04 in the sort code section of the ISA transfer form, and the 10 digit YBS e-ISA account number in the account number section?

    Thanks

I presume that means both of you have a £35000 limit each if you have separate accounts, but not if you have a joint account?

Here is some more information about the £35,000 protection limit from a web site www.fool.co.uk
    1. The new rules guarantee the first £35,000 of your savings in full per financial institution. The scheme applies to cash ISAs as well as ordinary deposit accounts.
    2. 'Per financial institution' doesn't necessarily mean the same as ‘per account'. Be careful not to choose more than one subsidiary in a group as you may only be covered once by the FSCS. That depends on how each individual company within the group is authorised by the FSA. You can check with the FSA whether an individual company is authorised in its own right or through the parent company.
    3. To obtain the highest level of protection don't hold more than £35,000 in one account. This was difficult to achieve when 100% protection was capped at the first £2,000 but it's much more feasible with the new, higher guarantee. Spread the default risk by choosing different accounts with a number of firms to maximise the protection. But keep an eye out for competitive interest rates and don't sacrifice return for security. Why not compare accounts at The Fool's savings centre?
    4. Joint accounts holders are covered separately by the scheme and therefore could be eligible for maximum combined compensation of up to £70,000 per institution.
    5. The new higher limits don't apply to any financial institution that defaulted before 1 October 2007.
    6. The FSCS is your last port of call when you haven't been able to recoup your lost savings by any other means.
This seems to say that the protection is £35,000 per financial institution and £70,000 if it's in a joint account.

I've sent my Transfer form to Icesave from YBS. This is the way I filled in the form.
Yes thats the correct sort code: 60-92-04
and also you only need the first 8 digits of your 10 digit account number.
    Hope this helps. Steve;)

Thank you Steve, things are very clear now. Did you get confirmation from YBS that you only need the first 8 digits of your 10 digit account number?

    Thanks again

H i Alex, I have not contacted YBS as it clearly stated on my welcome letter from the YBS,
"For Transfers to your account please use the Following details"
    Bank sort code: 60-92-04
Account Number(first 8 digits of your account)

I'm sure if there are any "probs" ;)Icesave will contact me.
I agree its sometimes a little confusing, but I think most banks use 8 digit account Numbers.

  • Fantastic rate for instant access and one of the few to accept transfers from existing ISAs as well.

I think the Nationwide will find my ISA is migrating!!
  • What about transfer outs? Do Icesave charge for this?

Must check, been with abbey for a while and they need a good kick up the backside.

    Cheers.

Does anyone know the sort code for A&L Direct ISA (issue 2)? or where to find it?

On the online banking I can only see the IBAN associated to my Direct ISA.

Sort code should form the first part of your IBAN. If it's A&L, it's likely to be 72-50-0X .

Very unlikely. But if they do charge a fee, they'll have to state that in the account T&Cs, which of course you will read before applying. :p
