Doubtful as the banks they list all have lower rates than Icesaves.0

I'm a little concerned about this £35000 limit if things go pear shaped.
I have a joint savings account with my wife with Icesave with around £300000 in it.
Does that mean we both have a £35000 limit in the event of trouble, or is it a joint limit?
We both also have ISAs elsewhere, and if we transfer them to an Icesave ISA, is that included in the grand total towards £35000, or is each account covered by a fresh £35000 limit?
Thanks.0 -
You each get £35000 coverage per institution, not per account.0

I'd have thought clicking on the 'Our sort code' link here:
http://www.ybs.co.uk/savings/online/eisa/index.jsp
would be a good place!Stompa0 -

I'm not sure about joint accounts, but the limits are per individual, so joint accountholders might both be able to claim against their share of the funds deposited.Comfortably_Numb wrote: »I presume that means both of you have a £35000 limit each if you have separate accounts, but not if you have a joint account?0 -
I do believe it is per person, so if you have a joint account, it's £70k for the two of you.
