We had some "amazing car shampoo" given us by a friend who said it's like no other. It was nothing special - the only thing special was that he would get commission (a few pence) if I bought one through him
Stay away from Amwayspacey0 -
I found that their car wash lasted ages. Also their car polish to be excellent0

IBS = irritable bowel syndrome.
say no more!Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -
Check out https://www.merchantsofdeception.com for the gory details. The author, Eric Scheibeler. was a former Emerald in the Yager-Harteis line of sponsorship. IBS is linked to Fred Harteis in the USA - he spoke at their recent (October 2006) seminar in the UK.

BMSGUY,
I gotta agree with Angel2.

Scrooge,
I am glad that you have better water quality over there....here in the States, it is a different matter. I don't care to get into the Amway debate, however, good water treatment wherever you get it from is important where I live.
"An examination of 65 of the 3,000 largest utilities found cities such as Philadelphia, Boston, New York City, Providence, R.I., and Portland, Me., are "manipulating the results of tests used to detect lead in water, violating federal law and putting millions of Americans at risk,'' The Washington Post said. More than 250 major cities currently exceed the EPA's lead standards, and many of them have been deceptive, or even fraudulent in their reporting of the problems.

As for me...I enjoy life too much to take chances...lots of fruits, veggies, filtered water, exercise and supplements can't hurt.0 -

I am totally confused now. your point is? This is not a discussion about the quality of water it is a discussion about Almay Amivo and IBS. I take it you are a part of this set up? My neice is a bio/medical scientist who looked into the questions and points put onthis thread and laughed at them, sorry. I wish you well0 -
Yet again,
newbie posters, and their posts are in defence of scams....gee, what a shock.0 -
BFG,
I did not advocate any company or scam. I specifically said I was NOT talking about AMWAY. I never even heard of IBS. I did not defend anything or direct any comments to you. I think anyone who thinks they can pay a few hundred dollars and get rich would be a good client for PT Barnum. "A fool and is money will soon be parted." There may be some good MLMs out there, there may not. I do agree with Angel2 that talking to you about anything would be a waste of time and feel that BSM should quit wasting everyone’s time trying to convince you. It does seem that if the question which starts a discussion asks what something is...the polite thing to do is let someone answer. You can give two sides of an issue without becoming a playground bully. In the States we always picture the Brits as being polite and well mannered, always getting in line, always listening to what people have to say before rushing to judgment. Then again...maybe you are French.
MY COMMENT was directed to Scrooge in an effort to share information about water quality (a subtopic in the discussion) which is a health issue, which makes it of interest to me as I have a wife with an auto-immune disorder, family in the health care industry, and a friend in the State's water quality agency.Turning_into_scrooge wrote:Your first point. I have a lowered immune system, due to disability, I checked this point with my GP and Phoned the consultant, this being the reason I have not posted on this before, both said rubbish to your statement......You have scare mongered here and you need I feel to retract your first statement or alter it so as not to frighten people such as me with a very low immune system! but that is how you make your money isn't it?
Scrooge,
In my previous post I was commenting and giving sources on water quality in the States, in response to your comments on water quality. My best friend works for our state water quality board, and with all of the dairies and farming we have in California, water pollution is quite an issue. The town I live in used to have clean well water when I was growing up, now it has to be chlorinated to drink. The top two sources I cited are considered reputable by many...probably not by BFG...It sounds like it must not be a problem where you are and that’s great.0 -
What a great thread.
Thank you all.
I have to defend "BMSGuy" :-
He has stuck it out. And it's rare that we get both sides on these forums. Also I thought it was a bit unfair that you guys would throw all these jibes at him – and then have a go at him for throwing them back at you. He has kept a lot calmer than I would have. The truth of any forum is that you will NEVER change someone else’s point of view. BMS did come across to me as quite a nice bloke.
I don’t like/agree with Chuggers but there are some nice people who do this job.
So whether you agree or not with Amway – he himself does come across quite well on here – I think he only lost his temper (a little) once or twice … even though you kept repeating things like “Scamway” – just to annoy him. Naughty.
He has answered your questions – again and again. He has then had posters going “Zzzzzzz” when it’s been you guys asking him the questions (same ones again and again).
So thanks BMS.
My point of view (though no one asked for it – so everyone get ready to post “Zzzzz”)
I wouldn’t ever buy any of these products or join up.
It’s not for me.
I also think that others who do buy/join are ‘crazy’.
That doesn’t mean they are ‘crazy’ but to me, from my viewpoint, they are.
Is it a scam? No. Not if you are trying to say that it’s a scam like a pyramid scheme. It’s clearly NOT a pyramid scheme – in the true sense. It’s run in the same way as many sales jobs are run. A telesales job I had while at Uni was run like this – get people in you get a percent of their sales – and a team manager would get a percent of all his team's sales. I think Virgin Cosmetics is run this way.
Are the products tat? I don’t think mark ups are a fair way of saying what is and what isn’t tat. Mark ups – are different on different products. The price we pay is NOT reflected in how much it costs to make – but on how much we are happy to pay. For instance cereals are very cheap to make and have a big profit margin – where as milk doesn’t. So I don’t think tat is fair – unless you include all products that are of the same type as tat. I think all Vit tablets are tat – fair. But to say just Amway’s Vit tablets are tat – is unfair.
So to me – it’s NOT a scam. But I would think anyone doing this for a living (or Virgin Cosmetics, etc) is crazy. And to me all the products that Amway sell (that have been named so far in this thread) are tat – but also any equivalent of these in shops or online are in my opinion also tat.
And finally a thank you to all the others (the so called ‘negative posse’) – great thread. And please stop being so negative about the negative posters. We need the ‘negative’ people to save the ‘positive’ people from themselves.
