Age ratings are there for a reason, if you choose to ignore them or you know your child puts things in their mouth you are the person to answer for what happens not the manufacturer, it's not like they didn't put a warning on the packaging.Winnings

I totally disagree, there should not be loose screws on children's toys.LuciferTDark wrote: »Age ratings are there for a reason, if you choose to ignore them or you know your child puts things in their mouth you are the person to answer for what happens not the manufacturer, it's not like they didn't put a warning on the packaging.Torgwen..........

I don't disagree with you on that but it's still the parents responsibility to make sure any toy they give their child is suitable for their child & not designed for older children who don't make a habit of putting bits of it in their mouths.I totally disagree, there should not be loose screws on children's toys.Winnings

On the Dispatches programme older children had swallowed these magnets (11/12 year old). There is trust that we put in the manufacturers of kids' toys and they should make sure there's nothing that can harm children. Parents don't necessarily recognise dangers also older kids can give toys to younger ones (ie you can't watch every movement for every second of the day).LuciferTDark wrote: »I don't disagree with you on that but it's still the parents responsibility to make sure any toy they give their child is suitable for their child & not designed for older children who don't make a habit of putting bits of it in their mouths.Torgwen..........

please dont take it as offence as im not having a go
Ages are assigned based on major child developmental milestones - oral exploration being a major one...
I suspect you won't get anywhere with Trading Standards as you took the decision to give the toy to a child younger than it's certified and intended audience...
Harsbro might take things a little more seriously though.April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200 -

yes agreed age ratings are there for a reason but i do not think the reason is that a screw may fall out and your child may choke to death on it
i expect that if every parent was 100% honest we have all given out childeren toys that are a littel older for them
but it was not exactly as if there was any small accesories that sdhe could have swallowed0 -
