  • I will try that idea of cutting dishwasher tabs in half.

I hate spending money on things like dishwasher tabs and loo roll. My DD gets through so much loo roll I don't know what she does with it!!!!

    Hi

I've resurrected this thread because over a year has passed and I haven't posted but I have learned so much from this thread and OS.

I am now completely in control of my finances and am reducing my debt slowly but surely.

I have reduced all my bills so I pay as little as possible for everything.

I use my tesco points for meals out.

I don't give my DD money - just an allowance that i stick to which I hope will help her to be responsible with money.

    I have a sealed pot.

    I budget.

    Thank you ALL so much.

I am going to use this as my diary from now on.

I have no money until OHs cheque clears on Tuesday so I am carefully going through the cupboards today.
I am so proud of myself 'cause this is where in the pre MSE days i would have had a spree with the credit card. Now I am going to do some baking and go through my cupboards for some stuff to ebay.

By writing this I am committing!!!!!

Thanks Mizzy that's what I'll do later on.

I have fed us all from store cupboard. It's not too difficult if you make a bit of effort. Only thing is dishwasher has broken down so home cooking means loads of washing up!!!!!!!!!

I'm putting some more on ebay. The things that are already on have bids of 30.50 which I will pay off my credit card. Also received expenses cheque today 100.15 so altogether that will be an extra 130.65 - yahoo!

Re your DD's toilet roll usage - this seems to be a universal problem, especially with girls

Try the old trick of squashing them when they're on the holder - it makes them 'bump' with each pull and helps remind the user to pull off less (well, that's the theory anyway, lol).
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Update on toilet roll!!!! Even when I squash it I can hear it whizzing round when I'm downstairs - grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Hi Keeping Positive I see your debt free year is the same as mine - we must work at getting it cleared sooner.

  • have just read through your thread, well done on sticking at it. I used to think that I couldn't live without my dishwasher. We have a tiny kitchen and when we got it fitted the guy said that he refused to design a kitchen without a one so we went ahead and used it all of the time...there was only 2 of us!!! now for some strange reason, when our baby was born we just stopped using it and washed the dishes instead. We must have saved a fortune on dishwasher tablets and electricity, now I look at it and wish I had more cupboard space where it is although it does get used at christmas!

    good luck with everything

I know what you mean about the dishwasher! I wonder which uses most water. Washing up 3-4 times or dishwasher once a day - I'm sure someone will know.
