£120 a week on food. Look at where you shop & what you buy. Are you buying the top range of food, the most expensive things?

If I was spending that amount one week, that would be my main shop for the month.
  • Hi Debbie,
I can feed Me and 2 teenagers (who eat more than me and we won't go into the toiletries they use lol)and a hungry cat for under £35per week. Only ever use cash and usually have money left over. I do the same as Need To Sort It, cook from scratch, meal plan etc. Try a spending diary to see where you are buying things you don't need to its quite an eye opener!! Good luck :o

    wk 1 £115.24 = £44.76 left!!
    wk 2 £0 = £44.76 left!!
    wk 3 £46.71 = -£1.95
  • The £120 wasn't just for food but everything for a week but I've realised I acn do it for less. I've drawn out £80 for the week to include everything like my DD's music lesson £14 and fuel to get to work £20. I live in the sticks so everytime I need to go anywhere I have to get the car out.

My spending yesterday was £29.90 in Tesco for my main groceries for the week - yes I did write a menu and a list!!! I also spent 96p on stamps and £7.90 in the pet shop. I have 2 dogs, 1 cat and DD's hampster.

I'm getting obsessed with this way of life.

I have just applied for a Goldfish credit card with a 3 year interest rate of 4.9% and if I,m accepted I will transfer the balance from the Virgin card which has a higher rate. Wish me luck

Keep it up debbie you are doing a good job, as far as the budget goes try for £120 if that's what you're happy with, my only advice is do it with cash than whatever is left over you can roll over to the next week then review when you feel comfortable and it means you can't go over budget. Good luck
