our cases were damaged in transit coming back from cuba. we wrote to the carrier's luggage loss adjusters with a copy of the recipt for the bags and the damage report from the airport and they sent us a cheque for the full amount within 48 hours of them receiving my letter. whilst i was annoyed that our bags had been damaged, i couldnt fault the speedy way we were treated, so i hope you have some luck.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0

My case travelled back ok and arrived in one piece. Glad to be back, although Belfast is an amazing city!0

Some good news and some bad news since my last post.
The good news is that I have got a significant pay rise in my current job and should see the effects at the end of the month including a chunk of back pay that I can throw at my debts.
The bad news is that the fridge freezer broke down and it cost the best part of £100 to get it fixed. Seems to be ok now... fingers crossed. But I had the money put aside as I had bills money left over from last quarter.
Also, the money I spent in Belfast I put on my credit card as it was work expenses, and I'll get that back soon. But I'm not going to pay it off the card I used, I'm going to pay it onto the Capital One card which has the highest interest rate and this should mean that the Capital One card will be paid off.
I'm also going to pay off the Egg Card with the back pay money. I know that it won't make that much difference to the total debt, but I'll have less credit cards to deal with and i'll save so much in interest.
Having a bad week this week so far, had a rubbish weekend with family troubles and I'm back in work after a week's annual leave.0 -
Had a very MSE weekend, we went to the previews for the new wagamamas restaurant in Cardiff bay, which was very nice and had a lovely meal (main and side each and two drinks each) there for free, and we had free parking too as bf had found £3 during the week!
I'm waiting until payday on Weds before I do any budeting for next month as I should have my pay rise and back pay, which should pay off a good chunk off one of the credit cards.0 -
Just had a letter to confirm my new salary, and that the back pay would be paid on Wednesday!:beer:0

Thanks for the messages 4little one and ISOM!
Was doing my sums yesterday and it looks like my months pay will go over the higher tax band (40%) and I'll lose some of my back pay  but won't know for sure until I get my pay slip tomorrow. Still there will should be enough backpay to pay back my bf for my bike and to pay a chunk off, or clear the capital one debt (i haven't had my expenses back yet) and then pay off another chunk when I do get my expenses.
I also need to do another SOA, but it will be difficult to see what my usual monthly net pay will be from now on with the backpay mixed in this month.0 -

As we are at the start of the new tax year, not sure that you will start paying the 40% banding until you have actually reached that point!! My OH had a massive backpay (some £15k) and he didn't start paying the 40% until he had actually earned over the threshold. Remember also that it has been raised for this year to something like just under £42k from £39k.
Good luck and hope you get all your back pay soon.:DWhen you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0 -
:T Thanks for info TurnaroundSue. I'll have to redo my sums.0
