I have a Trade Card, and the rate of discount isn't linear - some filters I only get a few pence off, and some are a quarter of the shelf price.0

hello do we get discounts on brake discs ?0

Just applied for my card. According to the website
"o shop online with Halfords Trade Card, simply log in to your Halfords account and add your Trade Card number. You can do that by clicking here. Then, you’ll be able to access exclusive trade prices online. If you don’t have a Halfords account, you'll need to create a new account and add your Trade Card number to enjoy the benefits.
Once you’re logged into your Halfords account and have added your Trade Card, you’ll also be able to use our online services such as Click & Collect and Home/Work Delivery to buy goods at trade prices!
That’s not all - while you’re logged in, you’ll be shown trade prices with and without VAT, and we’ll send you invoices for your trade purchases to help with record keeping."
Think this might be of interest to a lot of people asking about prices etc.0 -
That's a new thing that started only recently but it's very handy0

I took part on the initial trial of the trade card many years ago in the nineties. Back then the discounts given were across the board and REAL.
When I say REAL i mean equiv to wholesalers prices. Back then (at the wholesalers) oil 99p per 5 litres, bulbs 60p per box 10 etc. I think a wishbone for a Ford Orion was £4, brakes £3, oil filters were 30p each.
Halfords competing was a joke in the trade as they had a reputation for being over priced and the haunt of the have-a-go mechanic that paid over the odds to buy stuff they didn't really need to do a minor job they had no idea how to do.
Halfords had to make people sit up and listen - they matched near enough....not on everything, but enough to make it a worthwhile trip - especially on sundays, after all - smaller traders worked on sundays!
Nowadays, the discounts are there on certain things, but not as great a discount - caused riots as staff had a lesser discount than traders - and not on everything. The level of discount depends on where the store is, the store manager and how the trade is viewed in that store.
it is not a standard universal set price - although some products will be obviously - certain areas will only give a minimal discount, others will only discount on 'MOT' items. Why, I have no idea - but certainly watched it change, and seen a large difference. But I believe there are levels of discount, and the store can set those levels depending on local competition etc.
This is think is why no set price list or pamphlet is produced promoting them.0 -
Er, the prices are on the website before you pick which store you will be using. If a widget is 99p it will be 99p at any store0
