Honestly look around:rotfl:... Price up bits locally and not @ halfords etc...

If I was to launch the "SassyFandangoSave" card tomorrow and for example Sell brake pads for Kia Prides that were £100 a set but to the holder of a "SassyFandangoSave" card they were £40 people would be having kittens because of the 60% saving and queing up with their blag payslips......

GSF do more than a little bit off for trade aswell.....

How are Halfords are dear at £24 and ebay cheap at £31?
What sort of percentage do you get off GSF for trade ?

Bit over the top for a 1.5d, unless you have a lot of long roads you reguarly drive down.
I just found the Halfords prices, it's £24 for brakes and pads, and £18 for a set of glow plugs.
Wiper and filter are about £3 each or thereabouts.

Where exactly did you "Find" these prices?....... Website? care to share a link?...

IRC you only find the trade prices when you present the "Golden" card....

Around 30% sometimes a little more or a little less.....

EDIT:- Just read as apparently this is what you paid... If so then fair play.

But pretty useless if the Guy or anyone else doesnt have trade card anyway

I find Halfords quite competitive from a trade point of view. Not everything is cheaper than the local motor factors and often the range of parts in stock is limited... but then they stay open Saturday afternoons and Sundays so it's swings and roundabouts.

There is a set for £31 on ebay, but I cannot post a link due to being a new user.

What is this "golden card that has been mentioned? I have the card now and it looks like the card on haldords' web site.

Just found out that in store offers and trade card discounts don't combine. Tried to get the free bottle of screenwash with the advanced coolant 5 litres but the offer didn't come up. As it still came to about 50p less than it would with the offer without the card I didn't complain anyway.

I probably missed at some point some obvious thing which told me this but thought I'd give it a go anyway. Guess this means there is effectively no trade discount on the Halfords super brillance etc that are nearly always BOGOF.

They work out dearer trade, but the standard twin pack of headlight bulbs comes to about £2.

I'm not sure if that's always the case. I bought a power jigsaw in my local branch that had been reduced to £10. I didn't really expect anything off for the trade card but produced it anyway. The till knocked another £1 off. It might have been a local reduction - returned item or something but it works fine and I reckon I got a bargain.

I am guessing certain items have a fixed percentage reduction that applies whatever price it happens to be. I picked a £1 spark plug wrench out of a bargain bin once with some other things, till assistant said that won't be discounted, but it came up at 80p I think. OTOH once I picked up an air filter and it came up about 25p more than shelf price with the original receipt verifying this.
  • Tools / storage seem to be around 20%ish discount as a rule of thumb, and as above thir offers ares someties better although a torque wrench list was 70 and i paid 40.

Parts is a little hit and miss as to where is cheapest - (Subaru ej20 filter trade is near double euros normal price!) but they have the opening hours (however with new euros opened almost opposite this may change - euros can do next day go a trade counter on a sunday (order sat am pick up sun)

With anything where there could be more than one variant then i would avoid halfords as they just dont have the back up and its not worth the hassle unless the parts are physically on the shelf.
