    Just come across this

    http://www.halfordscompany.com/hal/ir/announcements/rns/rnsitem?id=1118296813nRNSI3340N&t=popup
We have also introduced a Halfords trade card into virtually all stores to encourage more committed home car mechanics and smaller garage proprietors to purchase an increasing amount of their parts requirements from our stores. Early results from both initiatives are encouraging.

This to me suggests you should not need to be in the trade to get a trade card?

Halfords themselves http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10651&storeId=10001&langId=-1&productId=264956&p1=38270&p2=31284 mention high volume of invoices from Motor Factors in last 3 months. I suppose my pile of Skoda dealer one's from October are probably out of the question.

Looks like a fake wage slip is the best way.

As per post4 / halfords website all you need is a "High volume of local motor factor invoices from last 3 months" to get a trade card

I think you may have missed the point of this thread? Read first post and second for an example of discounts.

the staff where i tried to blag a card seemed rather strict on not giving one up without a wage slip

if you do decide to try and get one with the reciepts id print out the page that says theyre acceptable and go straight to the manager to enquire

i also think theyre still overpriced on most stuff...and i will still shop around for the best price, but its handy to have the card incase your caught out one evening /sunday afternoon

it would help if they had a website with the prices on too

I asked about the trade card whilst at the parts counter today, they seemed to think it was only for employed mechanics, so I mentioned it being for the home mechanic, I asked what they meant by "significant number" of invoices from a motor factors.

The kid decided significant meant one invoice but wasn't sure. He decided it would be one.

Has anyone got one via motorfactors invoices?

we got ours the other day using a load of old invoices,

ANEWMAN tip get your old invoices then if you have a friendly local motor factor buy a couple of parts and get an up to date invoice put that on top of the pile,

then afterwards take the parts back and get a refund
