Hi everyone,
It seems like a lifetime since I posted on here and I have never, ever worked so hard in my life!! I thought I woul take an hour to catch up on things, we got our internet sorted finally thank goodness, spent ages wondering how we was coping without it and then have not had the time to use it anyhow, LOL!!
Wol, it was lovely to meet you when you came down, hope things are going well for you, drop me a note and let me know how things are progressing. Sorry there was not much left for you to do though
So, things are GREAT! The house is lovely, just one room left to decorate, it has been started and it should be done by next weekend once we get done. Every day that the weather is good has been spent in the garden to get that done. It has been a lot of work (12 hours last weekend pulling up stinging nettles and brambles!!) but it is getting there. We bought a garden shredder from Tesco for £40 and that was the best money we have spent as it meant everythinggot muclched into 15 bags instead (yes, 15 bin bags!!) Just got a pond to put in, the wooden playcentre this weekend (rain permitting) and then we can start working on the other bits and bobs that get left until last. The house is coming along, as I say, just one room left to do which is the main living/play and dining room and we can finally start unpacking the last of the stuff.
we just seem to have been very lucky, everything we managed to get has been knocked down in price for the sale and it means we have been able to buy what we wanted without breaking the bank, we even put some Kitchen cupboards and worktop in the utility room to give some more space. It does not have as much space as our last place but I will adjust in the end.
So, the very good news. For those of you who know how much I love Xmas and all my lights and that my husband thinks I am crackers for getting them on so early (1st Dec) - a memo goes around the village that lights must be up for 1st December and there is a big village switch on at 6pm. I think this topped the icing on the cake, LOL!!
the neighbours next door have 2 cousin/nephews with the same condition as Ryan so they know how to deal with him, last weekend he went to 2 neighbours houses and went for a walk with another neighbour while I was cutting the grass, Ryan invited himself and the neighbour said no problem nd the kids went off with him and their kids with the dog (they had already been to play the day before as well so it was OK). But, this feels like HOME. I feel like I have been here forever (apart from the boxes!) For all of the stress and heartache we had over it and getting here I really do think that the journey was worth it. I feel settled here already and I love the village and our neighbours, the house, blah, blah, you get the jist.
The travel to school is still a huge bind at the moment as it is costing me around £60-70 a week to get to school and swimming lessons. The local school has room for DD but not for Ryan so, on the heads advice I have an appeal going through for him, DD has been booked in so he SHOULD get in due to the sibling rule and for us being so local (DD and I have a tour next week and she will go on 10th July for the morning - so I am looking on this as a positive sign, the school know the score that if Ryan gets refused DD cannot go either - why ask her to look around and have a day there if there is the possibility that she cannot attend!!). If he does not get in they are also booked in to a school 3 miles away to start Sept. The people who deal with appeals told me to take all the spaces available so that if Ryan gets in locally they can both start in Sept, if he does not then they will start the other school. I will not find out whether he is in until August. It is so hard to know what is the best thing to do isn't it, but I am sure everything will fall into place.
A the moment I get 2 hours in the house after taking DD & DS to school, come home (via the tip), catch up on some stuff go back to school (via the tip again), collect DS after lunch and then hang around with whoever will have me for the afternoon, I cannot afford to do another run back here and then back to school as it would mean another £20+ fuel. Then the evening after tea and bed we start more decorating, planning, gardening etc... Usually we fall into bed, totally exhausted, but as I said to my husband - once it is done it is done for many years and we can then sit back and enjoy life and the house at last. I do think that to get most of the house and garden done in one month is a massive acheivement and we are proud of that. It will be very strange to get up knowing that I will not have anything (as such) to do.
The shed base is being put in next week so I can get my stock here as I have been told I can work from home, that is someting for me to do in September when the kids start shool, but it will save on the storage costs if I have it all here too.
It has been a long journey to get here so far. The old house is still not sold, Mum has mentioned moving back there herself but -get this - they asked my permission to do so as they did not want us thinking that they had pushed us out so the could move in. I told her that I did not mind and she should not have to ask, I said things have worked out so well for us and I love where we are, the house, the people, the village and we finally have security for the children so no, I did not mind and what is done is done. Of course, it has been a hard journey but life is to short to be moaning and whinging and bearing grudges as we got there in the end. I just hope my journey can help me advise others who enounter the same problems. I go back to theold house a good few times a week to get my mail (save on the redirection costs, LOL) but not one of the neighbours has come and asked me how things are how is life there!! No, everything worked out forthe best for us.
I wanted to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the advice and support you all gave me and the strength you gave me to keep on fighting for this, I have said before that just being able to come onto the boards and share feelings and ask if I am doing the right thing has been everything to me and for keeping my strength and spirits up. Thank you.0 -
