I have a beige carpet in my home all the way from sitting room, upstairs and in 3 bedrooms.

I couldn't live with a beige carpet - I'd be too worried about dropping tea on it, let alone what my 2 year old would do to it lol

    Great news.

Re carpeting; I wouldn't want too pale a colour just coz I drop stuff all the time ( I don't have children) - how about a different neutral colour? I went with green onthe basis it is like grass!

Good morning everyone, sorry I did not get time to pop in this weekend - we had a busy one, not that I can remember what we actually did now, LOL!! The eekend seems to have passed in a blur. the ironing has finally been finished beause I realised I had to get my finger out and do it as it dried now - I'd end up taking it with me otherwise.

I've called into the HA lady this morning but she has not called me back. She did tell me that she was not in the office today so I think it'll be another couple of days until we get the keys - but hubby has booked off from friday util bank holiday Monday so we are hoping we get them before then. I asked her if we could do Monday and she is not in the office and then Friday and she said 'before then as the tenancy starts on Monday' so hoping it will turn out to be tomorrow or Wednesday. I won't rest until I have the keys - until then it feels like someone is going to say it is all a joke or something.

Still not decided on the carpeting, LOL, the kids do not take anything upstairs as they are not allowed to :) I have had yellow in my son's room at the moment and it has the odd mark but nothing major - it is downstairs that everything seems to come off worse and we have decided laminate through down there.
I'll be back to update as soon as I get the keys though, I sold some stuff on eBay last night and have not even got around to sorting the emails out so that job is next on my list before I get Ryan from school.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine, there is a nice breeze today and it would be lovely if someone did not have a bonfire - why do people always have bonfires during the day!!

BM, fantastic news about the house - I am only just catching up after reading Savvy Sue's post on the autism thread. I would go for a neutral colour right through the upstairs too - we have 'very milky coffee' coloured carpet in our living room, and for a high traffic area, it doesn't look too bad. It's been down 4 years and survived 2 little ones and their frequent attempts to demolish it. If I was choosing a new living room carpet I would possibly go ever so slightly darker, but for bedrooms it is great.

I would go with beige, it is soo neutral it matches any colour scheme. My upstairs rooms are all beige carpets and I had to think for a minute to recall what colour they are. They seem to tone with all the different colour schemes the rooms have.

Had a quiet green once and hated it, kept noticing it too much.

Ooh, Wednesday 12.00 for going to the HA so guessing we are collecting the keys then. Hubby has booked off from Wednesday until Bank holiday Monday, his work have been great about him having the time off short notice but was not too impressed that he had to cancel the course he was booked on but he told them this had to come first.

I think we are going for beige too now, can work other colours around that then.

Good evening everyone...... we have KEYS!!! Yey!!! Been to OUR house today - it feels so exciting and frightening at the same time. Been an bought our DIY stuff, already spent a fortune, the grant they will give us will just about cover the paint but it is better than nothing. The paper sems to be coming off exceptionally well though and I do not think it will take long once we get stuck in to it all. The HA left us a welcome pack with tea, coffee, cleaning cloths, etc... everyone else found it very exciting. My uncle is doing the carpets for us and all we have to pay for is carpets so have picked those out. It seems that we might not be able to have laminate flooring though. Damn. Have carpet picked out if we can only have that though.

So it is all exciting stuff, we are getting the cooker on Saturday so at least we can have a cooked meal, we have had 'junk' today and Mya has been sick but I think some of that might have been because she scoffed a yogurt and then ate Ryans. So all in all a very hard and tiring day for all of us, but we are in so we now have to get upstairs done. Oh and yay.... Homebase had loads of bits on special and we got 2 cans of 5L paint usually £22.50 each for £6 each!! I could have bought more things but that would be just for 'tarting it up' and we need to get basics for now.

I still cannot believe it. feels weird as we are sitting in the same room right now!!
