Thank you - no, not far at all - could, in fact, be DF now but decided to keep my money earning interest as the debt is at 0% (pesky sofas!) ... can't take much of the credit though as most of my debt-busting was down to a very kind relative leaving me some inheritance when she, very sadly, passed away at Christmas. However, I have learnt some valuable lessons and will never be getting in debt again.
Slug - your DFW is fantastic!! Well done :j :j and a lesson we can all learn from too:o

    Hi everyone,

Was working on that, hubby has taken some 'before' pics inside the house. It has been a bit manic this week but hubby and mums partner have got loads done today so cracking on again tomorrow. We should have most of the house done in time for the carpets to go in on Saturday. Thankfully I sold a lot of things on eBay and the money for that is just coming in so it meant we had enough to afford all the materials to do it.

Today we found out that the kitchen is brand new a is the central heating system. We had to get the guy to tell us how it works as we have never had CH before, LOL. Almost everything is covered in chip paper as the walls are bad, but nothing some filler and decent base paint will not fix, as I said to OH, we spend the time on it now and it will not need doing again for many years so do while there is nothing else in there.

And that is about it really, it just seems we spend the whole time trying to sort something or another and so I am getting online for just a few hours each day.

It seems really weird to think that 10 days ago we still had nowhere to live.

And you know what, we spent the morning there on Thursday and it was just sorting stuff out getting ready for decorating, I came back to where we are now and I just knew that the other place was going to feel like home. Does that sound strange to you at all? But once everything is sorted it is going to be great. Of course I'll be coming back - you try getting rid of me. I'll get hubby to get some more photos this weekend and I'll see if I can find an online photo album that we can store them on and then you can see how things are going.

I hope everyone else is fine. Pania, if you are reading, I am sorry to hear about the job situation, I hope something comes up for you soon. Good luck hun.

    Hi everyone,

Thought would pop inand say hi, not been online for what seems like an age now, LOL. So, the walls are an absolute state and we have almost finished stripping and sanding to get a base coat on to get ready for painting. We have the carpets coming on Friday so need to get all of upstairs and the hallway done before then!! I got before pics but will find some way of uploading them when this is finished.

Everyday has been decorating until late at night in between sorting the kids and both houses. it seems like I am on a rushing treadmill and I have succumed to Aunt Bessies instant mash for tea as it is so darn easy and tastes great and I can chuck something in the grill or microwave to have with veggies (sausage and mash tonight!!) but there seems so much to do. my friend has agreed to collect Ryan from school tomorrow (wonder what she has let herself in for!!) so that I get an extra few hours decorating in, my sister was here last night and will also be here tonight to get them bathed and into bed so I can get a few more hours of decorating in. my husband has been there for 12-16 hours every day working on the house. My mums boyfriend has been great and has given us loads of help too when he can so it really has been all in to get it done.

The walls are so bad and we have had to put some sort of wall repair stuff on as well as some base coat that covers cracks - but - once it is done it is done and as we intend staying here a very long time then it is not a problem ad it means our decorating is sorted for a very long time. Luckily I got a tax credit rebate and I should hear about carers allowance this week too and this pays for all the materials on doing the house. Nothing like good timing!! I got the playcentre ordered for the kids too. Just have to get that put in. I wonder where the time has gone but things are coming along really well and all being well we will move in properly Sunday. Mum called the bailiff off and I told her that we had paid until end of the month so could we have that long and that has been of some use.

The neighbouhood is great, children all around us of the same age, friendly neighbours who are lovely to speak to. Here we do not have any children that are of the same age as ours so this is a huge bonus in that the kids will have other kids to play with. One side has animals (lots of them) so our cats will not be out of place, the other has lots of kids play equipment so this will not be out of place in our garden either. Our neighbour has offered to cut our grass for us!!

So everything is going great. I apologise as I have not been online at all, I literally have 15 minutes to update you all while I am in the middle of tea and then it is off with the PC but I may get on tomorrow afternoon. I hope everyone is doing OK. Sorry to love you and leave you but there is so much to do still, I am exhausted and parts of my ache I never knew had muscles, LOL!! Catch up with you all soon. xx
  • Sounds like you've been working hard! And also sounds like the place is working out well for you. So pleased after all your hard work to get where you are.
Congratulations honey - you're an inspiration.

    Hi BM

Glad to read that things are running along great, if very hectic. Just like MoT it seems like you've landed on your feet and I am very very happy for you all.

I don't supposed you'd consider painting my flat when you've done yours :D . I mean, you'll have the experience and would avoid any mishaps.................. (can you tell I'm trying to get out of doing it? :rotfl: )
